Slotkin: I Just Disagree with Bernie’s Use of ‘Oligarchy’, Not ‘on the Principles’, I Also Want to Cut Regulations
Breitbart ^ | 1 May 2025 | Ian Hanchett

Posted on 05/01/2025 6:49:56 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

On Wednesday’s “PBS NewsHour,” Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) said that her disagreement with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) over his rhetoric about oligarchy was just over the word and “It’s not that I disagree on the concepts or on the principles, and he’s right.” She also stated that the debate in the Democratic Party isn’t “about moderate versus progressive and whatever all of that means.”

Co-host Geoff Bennett played a clip of Sanders saying, “I think the American people are not quite as dumb as Ms. Slotkin thinks they are. I think they understand very well, when the top 1% owns more wealth than the bottom 90%, when big money interests are able to control both political parties, they are living in an oligarchy.”

Slotkin responded, “So, my response is, I agree with everything he said, other than, my dad didn’t know what oligarchy meant. Like, he asked me what it was about. It’s not that I disagree on the concepts or on the principles, and he’s right. And that energy that he’s bringing is great. It’s just that we’ve got to, again, communicate to those folks who may not know what an oligarchy is, like my dad.”

Frankly, I don’t believe they know either - though they’ll fight to the death before admitting it, even to themselves.

Bernie Sanders is a freak and far left whack job.

But that said, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

The US is an oligarchy, so is the West et al.

You have a handful of super rich that have a disproportionate influence on the democratic process, the media, and burocracy. In fact, when you have an issue where the majority disagrees (example, trade with China years ago) with the oligarchs position, 60-70% of the time the minority opinion oligarch gets their way: https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/perspectives-on-politics/article/testing-theories-of-american-politics-elites-interest-groups-and-average-citizens/62327F513959D0A304D4893B382B992B

“Bernie has been singing the oligarchy malarkey since the the 80’s.”

There was a great montage a couple weeks back of him doing exactly that through the decades. What a tired old song.

Did Sanders claim that Slotkin's father knew what an oligarchy was?

Comrade Bernyovich has been taking advantage of that for at least 50 years. That's the gravy train she wants to take a ride on.

The problem:

Capitalism is the only system which will truly allow democracy to function and to give people a semblance of freedom.

But:

Capitalism creates an unequal resource distribution and allows for the concentration of political power and influence over the media.

In a capitalist system you have lobbying, buying off politicians (buying their art, hiring family members, giving them millions for a 45 minute speech, donating to a charity or foundation they own...), PACs, campaign and party donations...

In that world, those with the money have the final say and if Disney says so, they nearly single handily change US law to protect their interests “Mickey Mouse Protection Act”: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_Term_Extension_Act

How do you have a capitalist system, BUT still make it so that every person has an equal vote, stands equal before the law, has the same influence on the bureaucracy?

As has been the case for many years now, they are trying to say that the "oligarchs" are the creation of the Republicans, which is more of the same of blaming the Republicans for what the Democrats have created. The overriding majority of the billionaire oligarch class are wedded to the Democrats & the far left that hate this nation. They are the ones associated with the elimination sovereign nations who desire a One World Government where they can obtain absolute control, where they become the leaders who are absolved from whatever criminal actions they may engage in. In other words, laws are beneath them for the are above the laws that are meant for others.

That is why they adore what China has created & it's their envy to achieve the same setup.

But by blaming the oligarchs, and blaming the Republicans for their creation, enough stupid people just may fall back behind them.

So, basically they are trying to find a way to fight back against Trump & MAGA because nothing that the are currently doing is helping at all, because the fights they are taking on, is not selling with the people at all. Standing with dangerous criminals is not something that resonates with anywhere near enough people that will vote for them.

They are excited by the fact that they are able to draw large crowds, because it emulates the enthusiasm seen that has propelled Trump, and that is exactly what they need, because they cannot count on election thefts. The more often that is used, the more exposure it also opens up for that to be uncovered & proven.

They knew they couldn't pull it again on Trump, so they limited it to stealing seats in both houses of congress that gives them some power, because of their RINO cohorts. Doing that would not garner as much attention. <

In essence, they are floundering & are desperately looking for a life line. & this seems like the best option available to them.
