Connecticut Secretary of State Stephanie Thomas urges all residents to oppose restrictive SAVE Act

Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas is urging all residents to oppose the federal Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or SAVE Act.

In a release from her office Thursday, Thomas says the legislation is “bad for Connecticut, bad for voters and bad for taxpayers.”

The U.S. House passed the bill this week. If it passes the Senate and goes into effect, the bill would require in-person voter registration with physical proof of citizenship and eliminate online and mail-in registration.

Thomas warns everyone that the measure would place costly, unfunded mandates on municipalities, burden local election offices and open the door to potential security risks.

“Our laws, like our elections, should protect the rights of all citizens,” Thomas said. “Instead, this bill would create new barriers and threaten the integrity of a system that works.”

Thomas reiterated that, "We want our elections to be safe and open to all citizens, without artificial roadblocks that disenfranchise voters in the name of overblown security concerns."

...

Thomas urges all voters to contact Democratic U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy and ask them to oppose the bill in the Senate. She will continue doing the same from her office.

“Connecticut has proven that election security and accessibility can go hand in hand,” she said. “The SAVE Act undermines both.”

“Our laws, like our elections, should protect the rights of all citizens,”

The corrupt communist-supporting politicians have to hope this does not become law...

Places like New England and other states like MD, CA, NJ, NM, and CO tend to optimize their bank accounts through the practice of turning a blind eye to the millions of vile migrant-invaders who have been freely voting since G. Bush...

The only thing threatened by the SAVE Act in Ct is the Democrat lock on power. I fled Ct in 2013 when it became apparent that Ct had become a one party state.

Stephanie is a sexist and a racist.

She thinks women and blacks are too stupid to know how to obtain legitimate ID.

The large cities of Hartford, Waterbury, and Bridgeport (as just three examples) have legendary voter fraud including late night “ballot dumps” that elect Democrat governors.

I've never understood how it's possible for these to happen. Every voting location hasa list of voters and checks off the name you claim for each voter. They should easily know, minutes after the polls close, the total number of votes cast. It should be mathematically impossible for random piles of 5M ballots to just show up...

In CT the governor’s races have been fairly close—within a percent or two at midnight.

They only have to stuff the ballot box with ten thousand or so ballots per city after midnight to get the job done.

The Democrat precincts are guarded by thugs and Republicans are not allowed in to watch.

https://workingfamilies.org/2022/08/connecticut-working-families-party-endorses-erick-russell-for-treasurer-stephanie-thomas-for-secretary-of-the-state/

“Our democracy and our right to vote are under unprecedented attack in Connecticut and across the country,“said Representative Thomas. “I am running for Secretary of the State because I believe we can meet these challenges and emerge stronger through civic education, civic engagement, and expansion of voter rights. I am honored to win the endorsement of the Working Families Party because this democracy belongs to all of us, and I am ready for the fight.

In a nutshell, yes. They always end up having some surprise issue, that any other town would be a fairly obvious thing you must plan for on election day, which they used to justify it taking them so long. Also known as, giving them enough time to make sure enough ballots magically appear last minute.

I thought CT has voter ID requirement.

True, but it matters who and how the votes are LATER tabulated and security in the chain of custody is unregulated or monitored.

LOL!

IIRC, in 2024, Ds won ZERO states that require voter ID whist they DID win in those states which DO NOT require voter ID.

Anybody see the pattern here? Connect the dots?
