Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas is urging all residents to oppose the federal Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or SAVE Act.
In a release from her office Thursday, Thomas says the legislation is “bad for Connecticut, bad for voters and bad for taxpayers.”
The U.S. House passed the bill this week. If it passes the Senate and goes into effect, the bill would require in-person voter registration with physical proof of citizenship and eliminate online and mail-in registration.
Thomas warns everyone that the measure would place costly, unfunded mandates on municipalities, burden local election offices and open the door to potential security risks.
“Our laws, like our elections, should protect the rights of all citizens,” Thomas said. “Instead, this bill would create new barriers and threaten the integrity of a system that works.”
Thomas reiterated that, "We want our elections to be safe and open to all citizens, without artificial roadblocks that disenfranchise voters in the name of overblown security concerns."
...
Thomas urges all voters to contact Democratic U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy and ask them to oppose the bill in the Senate. She will continue doing the same from her office.
“Connecticut has proven that election security and accessibility can go hand in hand,” she said. “The SAVE Act undermines both.”

CT elections are very corrupt.
The large cities of Hartford, Waterbury, and Bridgeport (as just three examples) have legendary voter fraud including late night “ballot dumps” that elect Democrat governors.
Yep. Or they have some issues that no other town has, get a dem judge to give them like a extra hour of voting and like magic enough votes appear in a close race. In the last election, Bridgeport staffers got caught, on camera, dumping ballots into a drop box.
*sniff-sniff*
Smells like flak.
Every once and while, I will call them, just to annoy them even though I know how they will vote.
Bridgeport...precisely.
I thought CT has voter ID requirement.
Throw her in prison for using her office to encourage people to commit crimes.
Unless you vote in Bridgeport Ct, your vote doesn’t matter.
So a Democrat controlled state is urging its citizens to scream to their Democrat Representatives and their Democrat Senators to vote against it?
That sort of pressure will definitely kill it. /S
Democrats are terrorists and dirty cheating scum.
In CT large cities the rules are suspended after midnight.
Exactly. It was probably three or four go tutorial elections ago Bridgeport had “issues” due to suspiciously, high turnout, supposedly, where they ran out of ballots, photocopied a bunch in the Democrat mayor’s office, found a judge to give them an extra hour of voting due to sad issues. Well, what do you know, and what was going to be a very close race, magically, after most other towns had reported results Bridgeport had a large dump that provided just enough votes to get the Democrat over the finish line. What a coincidence.
Do t worry. R’s in the senate will never pass it.
So, I assume Bridgeport creates bottlenecks to slow voting down until midnight and then everyone can vote again?
The DemonRATS are peeing in their pants just thinking about people needing to prove they’re eligible to vote. That’s going to take a big bite out of their voter lists. It’s going to be tough for them to steal elections.
In Hartford, Waterbury and Bridgeport (and probably other cities) the ballots are “stuffed” after midnight with the “votes” of non-voters.
