Former House Intelligence Chairman Mike Rogers, the Republican nominee for Senate in Michigan last year, is making another run.
“As your next senator, I won’t just represent Michigan, I’ll fight for it,” Rogers said in a campaign announcement video, touting his support for President Donald Trump’s policy agenda.
“Alongside President Trump, I’ll work to bring good, high-paying manufacturing jobs back to Michigan, and I guarantee we’ll protect Social Security for our seniors,” Rogers said.
He quickly locked up endorsements from Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Tim Scott of South Carolina.

This swings on the preferences of the UAW rank-and-file.
Well, there’s always 2-time statewide loser John James — who still may run for the Senate since his House district is a complete tossup and he may as well go out as a loser for higher office than a lower one.
Yeah, the GOP bench in MI is a very short one. There was talk in 2023-24 that former Detroit police chief James Craig would run for Senate that year but he didn’t. Recall his sabotaged attempt at running for Governor in 2022, when Democrat operatives (naively hired by the Craig campaign) deliberately frauded up signatures, their fraud was caught as it was intended to be, and therefore he didn’t get on the ballot. Craig is running for mayor of Detroit this year as a Republican, and good luck with that.
Republicans in Michigan are acting all giddy while whistling past the graveyard, because several high profile Democrats have chosen not to run for the Senate in ‘26. But even a LOW profile Democrat can win there, given all of the “advantages” they have in the vote-counting department. Just look at 2024.
Rogers was in the House of Reps for 14 years, and he was Chairman of the United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence for four years.
When Rogers retired from the House in 2015, he was hired by CNN as a national security commentator.
Perpetual Candidate
John James announced last week he is running for Michigan governor.
That was one of the stolen Senate races last Nov. He was well ahead until the usual 2 a.am. Detroit ballot dump. So we are stuck with that horrible Slotkin for years.
