VIDEO: New York Bill May Ban Officers from Performing Certain Traffic Stops to Further ‘Racial Equity’

New York lawmakers are considering a bill that would bar law enforcement officers from conducting traffic stops for minor violations.

Part of the effort behind the proposal is to further “racial equity and public safety,” Fox News reported on Monday.

“The measure aims to limit ‘the frequency of traffic stops for minor violations in furtherance of racial equity and public safety,’ according to the bill, as racial minorities in the state make up the majority of arrests and traffic stops,” the outlet said, noting violations mentioned included those such as a broken taillight, expired tags, window tinting that is too dark, or if officers detected the odor of marijuana.

Police in Nassau County have been accused of acting with racial bias while performing such stops on duty, resulting in a lawsuit. The Fox report continued:

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman told reporters on Friday it is “ridiculous” to argue that there is racial bias in policing during traffic stops, saying that officers are usually unaware of the driver’s race before making a stop.

“It’s just a bizarre argument, it’s pro-criminal,” Blakeman said, according to the New York Post. “It doesn’t matter what race you are. If you’re breaking the law, then you’re breaking the law.”

They just come out and say it. Cops are not allowed to pull over anybody that checks the DEI list.

It is simple, New York believe people of color commit more of these offensives and therefor have decided to protect the people of color from there own criminal behavior.

The bigotry of low expectations, they obviously believe people of color are incapable of following those laws.

...racial minorities in the state make up the majority of arrests and traffic stops...

Before doing reverse discrimination, ask yourself why the above it true and if it make sense to kick the safety can down the road because minorities break the law more often than most.

This is not even a pretense of impartial laws that apply to all citizens

Having destroyed the rule of law, Democrats will find they are not protected by more laws. That does not seem to bother them.

Back in the day when I was the po-po in the hood, we practiced racial equity stops all the time; we stopped and checked out all the white people we saw because we knew why they were there.

Not to mention that the areas where there will less policing resulting in higher crime against the people who live in those particular neighborhoods.

We’ve been there, done that and ended in 2 the 2024 election because those minorities in those neighborhoods voted Trump/Republican.

“ or if officers detected the odor of marijuana.”

How can an officer detect the odor of marijuana if they haven’t already effectuated a traffic stop? In most states the odor gives the officer probable cause to search the car. Which I never liked because if a cop wants to go on a fishing expedition in your car he only needs to say he smelled marijuana. It’s purely subjective and impossible to refute.

They must have data showing that "people of color" commit more traffic violations than Whites and Asians.

Issues like this are portrayed as whites versus all the people who aren’t white, when someone figures out how to make such reporting by governments and media break it down by specific groups, then we will see that Orientals and Asians do better than whites in most categories from traffic tickets to bank loans, foreclosures, prison sentences, etc. which will end this fake racial narrative and war against core America and whites.

Uneual protection under the law.

I suppose the argument is that some of these stops ate for revenue raising rather than public safety, and therefore statistically unfair.

I don’t like that line.

So, if the wrong type is breaking the law, relax the law.
That sounds totally RACIST to me.

As with “economic justice” or “environmental justice” ow with any qualification to the word “justice”, “racial justice” is no justice at all. It is the epitome of inequality and discrimination ... and it’s racist at its core!

limit ‘the frequency of traffic stops for minor violations

In other words, no more consequences for blowing through stop signs and red lights and speeding. Do it all you want.
