Trump takes 'nuclear option' at southern border to solve America's migrant crisis once and for all

Donald Trump has decided to go 'nuclear' on the migrant crisis by allowing the military to take control of a 'buffer zone' near the Southern border with Mexico.

Trump's ambitious plan would turn the 60-foot deep buffer zone into a military installation at the border and allow US troops to temporarily hold migrants who cross into America.

A defense official told The Washington Post that the migrants would be held until legally detained by civilian law enforcement.

The president has made fixing the migrant issue the top of his second term agenda and has seen success early on with illegal crossings plummeting from the record highs under predecessor Joe Biden.

Now, Trump's homeland security team is reportedly set to announce plans to take greater control over the partition in a section in New Mexico.

If the initial plan is termed a success by the administration, officials believe the zone would eventually stretch west to California.

The designation would allow the Pentagon to deploy resources from its massive $800billion budget on the border crackdown.

When reached by DailyMail.com, a Pentagon spokespe

rson said they 'have nothing to announce at this time.' DailyMail.com has reached out to the White House and the Department of Homeland Security for comment.

The military is largely prohibited by federal law from many law enforcement duties by the Posse Comitatus Act.

Trump has gotten around the law during his second term by using Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain migrants and then moving them.

The Pentagon is seeking counsel from the military on whether or not this could cause legal problems.

A legal theory for how this would work is comparing migrants entering the buffer zone to trespassing upon a military base.

'It's very, very careful on that wording

Maybe they’re asking their in-house lawyers to find some excuse why they can’t do it.

He should declare the home and courtroom of several federal judges as military bases.

A lot of “the Pentagon” is civilian. Hegseth is trying to get rid of tens of thousands of them.

The military is barred from acting against citizens, but it is not barred from acting against non-citizens.

Nuclear option by putting the army on the border to defend the border? This shows how much the left has shifted the narrative. Try walking into Turkey from Iran or Armenia - won’t happen because the Turkish army defends their border and they don’t have a great reputation for treating invaders with the kind of hospitality that would bring a smile to the face of leftists dipshits in America. So no one does it.

This should be the military’s primary role. Defending the border. That is not law enforcement.

“Going nuclear”, or “nuclear option” does not necessarily mean that nuclear weapons will be physically deployed or detonated.

A better term might be “scorched earth” like Sherman’s march to the sea, which left widespread despair and grief in its wake.

The land cannot be occupied by the invading force, because it will be turned back by overwhelming fortifications with firepower to back it up. I think Trump is warming up to the concept of sweeping into Mexico to take out the cartels once and for all. They may have some pretty good military hardware at their disposal, but if a response from the US military gets triggered by their vain attempts to drive the Americans away from the border, don’t expect the might of the entire military machinery of the United States to hold back. Every stronghold of the cartels will be targeted and bombed to oblivion.

You’re welcome, Mexico.

It is not nice to p*ss Donald J. Trump off. He counterpunches. HARD.

All military bases should be moved to our borders, both north and south. -— The navy can have the coasts.

Just shoot to kill invaders, drug smugglers and traffickers until people respect our borders. It wouldn't take long before they'd all get it.
