Only about nine percent of pilots worldwide are currently women.
The number of females deciding to take on the role has been steadily growing each year, but still remains at less than 10% - around 72,428 women.
Among the piloting female alumni is Kate Newton, from Bristol, who works for easyJet. The 35-year-old is part of growing network encouraging other women to enter the industry.
"I would say the same to everybody, regardless of gender, if you have a real passion for aviation then the avenues are all there for you to be able to achieve your goal of becoming a pilot," the said.
For Ms Newton, it was an easy career decision due to her family's "strong aviation" links.
"My dad is also an easyJet captain and I have been privileged enough to be able to fly with him a few times, which was honestly fantastic," she said.
"My grandfather was in the RAF and my great-grandfather flew in World War One and World War Two."
First officers are paid between £48,000 to £86,000 per year, while captains can earn up to £173,000 annually.
Despite the lucrative wage, it is still a career that many women do not train for.

Females can be qualified to fly planes.
But that’s not the issue. It’s females who get promoted over more qualified males, just because they are females, that is the issue.
There’s a show on cable about air disasters. Lots of plane crashes. Mostly men screwing up.
Yeah. Most pilots are men.
Same with ATC and aircraft maintenance.
Does Kate have a wife?
Okay, do all the guy crashes were due to something else. Got it.
I prefer having a man at the controls, thank you. Men are able to think faster in dangerous situations.
I believe it is a proven fact that in general, men are better at math than women. Are there women math genius’s? Yes, but not the norm.
Women are also proven to not have the spatial sensing abilities (depth/space perception, especially when in transition) that men have - in general.
There never will be parity with male & female pilots.
If the libs/Marxists ever achieve it, there will be more crashes - by magnitudes.
Are there good and great female pilots? Of course. My DIL is one of them - a Marine pilot - my son a Navy pilot.
” it is still a career that many women do not train for.”
Well, how about some government programs to fix that?

I don’t have an answer to any of the questions, but I will say this. Seeing how airliners crash reveals that there’s a lot of of different things which can go wrong.
They were also there for Buffalo, not to mention the United 757 hull loss at EWR.

Can she land a plane upside down?
The morning of the NASA space shuttle Challenger launching-pad explosion in 1986 that killed all three astronauts, including female astronaut Christa McAuliffe, it didn't take long for the first macabre jokes to make the rounds on phones and e-mail, including this one:
Q: What were the last words spoken on the Challenger?
A: Hey fellas--what's this button?
One thing you can be sure of is that if the Captain is a white male, he is almost always very qualified. He is surely not a DEI hire.
If you get a white or black female captain, or a black male captain; confidence level goes down. Not saying pilots in these demographic categories can’t be qualified, but there might be concerns.
Which isn’t fair to the ones who are truly qualified.
