Mark Pincus, a tech billionaire who supported Biden in 2020, told "The All-In Podcast" this week that learning Donald Trump was taken out of context regarding the "very fine" people in Charlottesville was a "red-pill moment" for him.
"It wasn't just the media or politicians spinning it. That speech was one of the pillars of why you were supposed to hate Trump. You see Biden say that's why he had to run a second time, and you see Obama say it, and Biden brings it up again at the DNC."
"It is one of their pillars and they clearly know they are misrepresenting things," he said. "So for me, that was beyond uncomfortable. Now, I have to go back to first principles and look at the primary data, listen to only original speeches by people, and I just realized I couldn't trust the mainstream media."
MARK PINCUS: The wall starts crumbling and then it comes down all at once. It started in early 2023, I started reading PirateWires and Mike Solana, and I thought he was a little crazy at first because he would write these articles. One he wrote was about how the Ukrainian soldiers had swastikas on their helmets, and the NY Times photographers would ask them to take the swastikas off for photos, and I said, "That can't be right, that can't be true." And then, four months later, it was in the NY Times, buried in the middle of the paper. I kept seeing stories like that that he would be early on.
So, I just started feeling more uncomfortable and queasy with what was going on with mainstream media.

Smells like CYA.
“I just realized I couldn’t trust the mainstream media.”
Welcome to the party, pal.
It’s chock full of fruits, vegetables and vitamins. What’s not to like? Red pills for everyone!!
Boo hoo the media lied to meeee!!!!
Stop believing them, you tool!
That is my take, as well.
He couldn’t have been that consistently stupid.
I say that because I give him credit.
“taken out of context” is putting it mildly, and it’s hard to believe that anyone (American or liberal) with half a brain didn’t know this.
I thought it may have been the “mask up between bites. “ moment.
Can anyone trust the main stream media?
Of course if “Common Sense” were still Common, people would have figured it out right away.
Realize that a lot of American don’t have Free Republic as part of their news stream. Imagine all they get is a combination ofABC News, CBS News, CNN, and The NY Times, or similar. They are lied to incessantly by both commission and omission.
Getting past that is a red pill event for many. And many never get past the lies. I see it all the time.
Trump clearly condemned the neo nazis and white nationalists for anybody that cared to check out his back and forth with the press.
My favorite part was when he asked about George Washington and Thomas Jefferson losing their status and should we take down their statues.
Trump: How about Thomas Jefferson?
Presstitute: mumbles something
Trump: Do you like him? Because Thomas Jefferson was a big time slave holder.
I’m not quite sure how you just take that statement at face value and run with it. Isn’t it repulsive enough to even be skeptical that he would have said it. A pox on you for wanting to believe it.
It was Classic Trump.
You don’t get to be a billionaire by thinking for yourself. You have to be willing to follow your master’s bidding.
But you can always pretend...
Having money does not infer common sense.
This “very fine people” lie was just one of hundreds of lies the leftists threw at Trump.
I’m glad this guy woke up to the fact that Trump was targeted here. But why couldn’t he (and others) see the in you face daily distortions by the media?
