On this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday” Vice President-elect JD Vance said Trump’s incoming administration “obviously” should not give pardons to people who were convicted of committing violent act on January 6, 2021 at the U.S. Capitol.
Host Shannon Bream said, “January 6 pardon, President Trump says there is a process. Where is the line drawn on who will and would’t be considered for a pardon?”
Vance said, “I think it’s very simple. If you protested peacefully on January 6 and you’ve had Merrick Garland’s Department of Justice treat you like a gang member, you should be pardoned. If you committed violence on that day, obviously you shouldn’t be pardoned and there’s a little bit of a gray area there.”

When it comes to J6ers, I think the solution is simple
Pardon all the non-violent
Commute the rest
Politically palatable and gets everyone out of jail

The only damn violent offenders were the FBI and their cohorts!!!
Put him on SCOTUS in 2 years. 40 years of conservatism on the court. Put DeSantis in his place.
I don't think even people like the shaman rose to the level of violence. Nuisance maybe, but that's not a crime.
Also hunt down the “Summer of Love” participants who threw bricks at Federal officers during the burn loot murder riots there in 2020. Federal SOL is 5 years.
Only one side is allowed to get violent and burn cities.
I agree with you.
The only damn violent offenders were the FBI and their cohorts!!!
INDEED!!
Probably who JD is referring to.
That's the salient statement. The media will do their best to ignore that sentence.
Guys like Jake Lang deserve no pardon or commutation.
“ Put him on SCOTUS in 2 years. 40 years of conservatism on the court.”

No, Vance is destined for the Presidency. And he’ll be a great one with the interests of the American people and the Republic foremost in his mind.
Pardon those who were peacefully protesting outside the Capital.
Commute the sentences of the rest.
Case closed.
Side note: Some of the protesters were running up the interior steps in the Capital. And some entered private offices. That was a bit much.
But there was nothing violent going on. No one was throwing fire bombs or anything like that. Commute their sentences to time served.
Since many of the “actors” who “instigated” the “violence” never even faced a judge/jury...seems moot.
There aren’t many if any who were jailed for violence.
Agreed. The only two questions on the table need to be “Were you an FBI informant undercover that day?” and “Did you throw hands that day?”
If question 1 is “Yes,” then you get nothing. Good day, sir.
If question 1 is “No,” then you either get a full pardon or a commutation and told not to be throwing hands.
JD Vance. Wrong guy, wrong VP.
What about the violent Fedsurrectionists?
When do they get prosecuted, convicted and sentenced and go to their solitary confinement cells in the DC gulag?
Pardon all of them and go after Epps.
It makes sense but almost all weren’t violent. They need to be free.
