Hermeticism is an ancient Egyptian secret magic tradition based on a set of fourteen books known collectively as the Corpus Hermeticum attributed to a mysterious figure known as Hermes Trismegistus. Implied in Hermeticism is an evolutionary process of magical transformism moving from one kind of lower thing (matter) to another kind of higher life form:
“Human beings are themselves the product of a long spiritual evolutionary process that moves from ‘creeping things’ to fish, mammals, birds and then people. Humans can – through occult knowledge and extraordinary ability – continue this evolutionary process and become daemons, then gods, and finally planets or stars.” (The Making of the New Spirituality: The Eclipse of the Western Religious Tradition, James A. Herrick, p. 40)

“ Hermeticism is an ancient Egyptian secret magic tradition”
Hermeticism was made up by Greek conquerors of Egypt about 2200 years ago. It’s hardly ancient (at least when discussing Egypt).
They declared that Hermes and Thoth were the same “diety” to pacify the locals and seize religious control.
It’s the same trick the Greeks tried to pull on the Jews who didn’t buy it and which resulted in the Maccabean revolt and the events of Hanukkah.
Later Christians bought the lies and tried to combine Enoch (the prophet) with Hermes/Thioth resulting in all sorts of neopagan BS being introduced during the Renaissance.
The Jesuits missionaries in China redid the trick with Fuxi, a Chinese “diety”.
Interesting statements - do you have any links to cross-verify?
I’ll check it myself yes, but if you have starting blocks I’d be grateful
It’s from memory.
But You can literally just google “ Hermes Trismegistus” and this pops up. About 90% of what I said is on the wiki page.
Thankyou
Just like the Mormons. They believe they can become Gods. For example Mitt Romney. He thinks his $hit don’t stink. /spit
He thinks his $hit don’t stink. Not in Mitt Romney World.
“Humans can – through occult knowledge and extraordinary ability – continue this evolutionary process and become daemons, then gods, and finally planets or stars.”
Idiots.
Why is it important to understand this subject? Heiser says:
“The writer of Ephesians tells us: For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. We live in a natural world, present in a physical body. But there is another realm that exists. And this unseen realm is real and active, with powers at play and forces at work.
But for many of us today, we read Scripture through a different lens than the ancient eastern readers the Bible was written to. Because of this, it’s imperative that we recover an ancient, supernatural worldview of the Scriptures.
Seeing the Bible through the eyes of an ancient reader requires shedding the filters of our traditions and presumptions. They processed life in supernatural terms. Today’s Christian processes it by a mixture of creedal statements and modern rationalism.
In order for us to understand the unseen realm, we have to do the work of removing our western filters and learn how to read and interpret Scripture through the lens of its ancient, eastern readers.
It’s through this process that previously overlooked passages of Scripture come alive, and places we have analogized in order to help it make sense become clear. In order to begin understanding the unseen realm, we have to begin by learning how to read the Scriptures as the people it was written to.”
You’re very welcome!
I’ve read that book and others written by Heiser.
Thanks, very interesting. The author also has an excellent article on being white...
