Wild videos show enraged driver nearly crashing into teen cyclists — who then go on the attack in LA

An irate Los Angeles driver nearly hit a massive group of teenage bicyclists who’d taken over a busy roadway — with the vengeful bikers later attacking the motorist, wild videos show.

Clips on social media show the driver of a white Mercedes aggressively trying to drive around the scores of cyclists going westbound down West Olympic Boulevard on Saturday afternoon.

The motorist comes dangerously close to hitting some of them, even crossing the median and running red lights, the hair-raising footage shows.

“Hey, move!” the biker filming yells to his pals, who had completely blocked three lanes of traffic, as the car speeds up behind them.

“Watch out! Watch out!” he repeatedly warns.

The Mercedes finally swerves around the group after blowing through a red light and takes off down the street, video shows.

The cyclists, many of whom looked underage, then apparently chased the driver down and cornered him in a parking garage, with another video showing the bikers assaulting him.

Several bikers can be seen punching and kicking the man as he runs away. More teens jump on top of his car and kick out the windows, according to the clip.

Residents of the Mid-Wilshire neighborhood told CBS Los Angeles that they saw the biker gang cruising through the area on Saturday.

Bicyclists are a menace. They should be banned from city streets.

The bicyclists took over all lanes, then had the audacity to be mad that got them out of the way.

Bicyclists are responsible for following the road laws just as driver’s are. They took over the whole right lane, blocking regular vehicle traffic which I believe is unlawful. What would they have done if an ambulance came up behind them? They are supposed to ride in the assigned bike lanes, or stay right, not all over the road. The little bastards probably stole every bike they were on, and were headed somewhere to cause mischief. They look more like a mob perusing the neighborhood for a business to flash rob.

“Bicyclists are responsible for following the road laws just as driver’s are. “

Not in Colorado.

“The cyclists, many of whom looked underage”

How can they be underage?

Is there a minimum age to ride a bike in California?

“Youths”
They like to pull the front wheel off the ground and pedal directly at oncoming cars, swerving at the last moment.
Not bicyclists, who can be annoying: these are thugs on wheels.

Why were there so many bikes out there at one time and with no police escort/intervention? I think that is the big question.

I hear ya. One got sideswiped in front of our house quite a few years back and tried to do the same thing.
Without looking/checking for traffic, she deliberately swerved out into the traffic lane to go around two bikes in front of her as they were apparently going too slow for her. A motorist was coming up from behind and had oncoming traffic from the opposite direction. There was no way that he could stop in time. He either had to hit her or go into a head-on collision in a 55mph speed zone. He barely sideswiped her, but it was enough to push her into a muddy, grassy ditch where she crashed. No broken bones, just a few scrapes/scratches...she was very lucky...could have easily been killed.
She sued him, but IIRC, she lost the case.

Likely a flash mob, not a sanctioned event. The driver was being an a$$, but so were the bikers. No good guys here.

Oh that's right. They can smoke marijuana too while they're tooling along. No cop will stop them.

This has nothing to do with bicycles on streets, it’s about having a modicum of common sense when it comes to putting others in danger. The cyclists did not endanger the driver, but the driver could easily have killed a cyclist. He should be prosecuted for reckless endangerment, or whatever it’s called in CA.

If any of the kids are willing to attack liberal infringements on their freedom and safety in a similar way, they should consider running for public office.

In Idaho a cyclist can roll a stop sign, but only if it’s safe to do so. You can’t just run stop signs if don’t have right of way. That’s a good way to get flattened around here.

FWIW every cyclist fatality that I’ve read about around here was because the cyclist was a bonehead. If you ride responsibly you’ll fare better.

I can say this as a former bike commuter with 10,000 plus fatality free miles.
