Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) plans to meet with President-elect Trump at Mar-a-Lago on New Year’s Day to discuss “strategy,” as the top House Republican prepares for Friday’s Speaker election.

“I’m going to be with him at Mar-a-Lago on New Year’s Day,” Johnson told News Radio 710 KEEL in Shreveport, La., according to a report published Tuesday. “We’re going to map out some strategy.”

Johnson said the president-elect initially wanted to reveal his endorsement of the Speaker on New Year’s Day but moved it up to Monday.

The value of everything is relative to the next-best alternative. I don’t think Mike made the boss happy with his democrat budget stunt, but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s the best option for speaker in order to get Trump’s MAGA agenda moving soonest.

Maybe Trump will lay down the law. NO MORE OMNIBUS BILLS!
Vote by line item, the way it was meant to be. Make that the LAW!
On a side note get rid of BCE, go back to a.d. (anno domini) and b.c. (before Christ) Obama’s attempt to erase Christianity from the US. Remember when the Godless heathen said America is no longer a Christian nation?

If Trump’s support enables Johnson to keep his job, Trump will own him.

I guess we’ll find out soon enough who has more power over Johnson — The POTUS or the people who are blackmailing him.

I want to graciously thank The Hill for informing all of us of this wonderful strategy meeting today with the guy we all love to hate “little Mike Johnson”.

Now we can spend from now to eternity bashing and bullying Trump ...just because. LOL

Thanks again, The Hill. How would we exist with you? 😏😏

BCE=Before CHRIST era. CE=CHRIST era. That fixes it.

Alternate headline:

“Johnson to meet with Trump at Mar-a-Lago New Year’s Day, plead for support”

“I don’t think Mike made the boss happy with his democrat budget stunt”

**********

He made his other bosses happy though.

Johnson is a weaselly personality type. Not a stand up guy IMO.

Never change horses in mid stream.......some of those Republicans need to get that through their thick ass heads.

Johnson is the epitome of a sleazy swamper. After that 1,500 page monstrosity of a bill I don’t see how Trump could ever have any confidence or trust in him.

Johnson doesn't answer to Trump. He answers to 435 members of Congress. He needs 218 of them to get him elected to the Speaker post.

Any Republicans in the House who are complaining about Johnson should get to work lining up the support of 217 others to get someone else elected Speaker.

NEWS FLASH: None of the GOP malcontents complaining about Johnson could get more than 15-20 Republicans to support them for the role.

I think that went exactly as planned. The 1500 page "Dem Menu" ran out the clock. The committee put it together...people like Collins and Schumer and gave it to Johnson. It was never to get to the floor.

Then within a few hours..116 pages appeared...incl. Trump's caveat...which EVERYONE (incl Trump) knew would never pass.

Then voila...the caveat is gone and 118 pages were passed with the bear minimum added to the "clean" CR.

And that's "The Art of the Deal".

And Mike in a little speech afterward clarified that he had been in touch with Trump all through this.

So many Republicans think best way to succeed in DC is to play ball with Democrats and be bipartisan. That is a serious flaw.

Of course the Speaker answers to Trump. Their job is to support Trump’s agenda.

Please take a course in Civics 101 and get back to me on that.

It speaks volumes, to have visitors come to the home Trump can afford, and let the reality sink in, on who he is.

I worded that badly...Republicans in the House should be supporting Trump’s agenda.

I keep thinking Speaker Johnson is another Paul Ryan. He’ll probably end up on the board of Fox News after he engineers the midterm loss of the House.
