West Point apologizes for sharing inaccurate Pete Hegseth information
Washington Examiner ^ | Dec 12, 2024 | Mike Brest

West Point has acknowledged it inaccurately informed a media outlet that President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Department of Defense, Pete Hegseth, did not get accepted into the institution more than two decades ago.

Earlier Wednesday, Hegseth posted on social media that ProPublica “is planning to publish a knowingly false report that I was not accepted to West Point in 1999” without any additional information. He accompanied that with a picture of his acceptance letter into the institution. Hegseth did not attend West Point but rather Princeton University, graduating in 2003.

A ProPublica editor subsequently acknowledged in response to Hegseth that they had been told by a West Point official that they had no record of his acceptance or even an application for him. That was inaccurate, and West Point later realized it and informed the outlet.

“A review of our records indicates Peter Hegseth was offered admission to West Point in 1999 but did not attend. An incorrect statement involving Hegseth’s admission to the U.S. Military Academy was released by an employee on Dec. 10, 2024,” West Point Directorate of Communications said in a statement to the Washington Examiner. “Upon further review of an archived database, employees realized this statement was in error. Hegseth was offered acceptance to West Point as a prospective member of the Class of 2003. The academy takes this situation seriously and apologizes for this administrative error.”

The Army would have gotten away with it if Pete didn’t have a copy of his acceptance letter. Military is infested with leftists playing politics.

West Point staff needs to reviewed and many dismissed.

That group up there took down the photograph of General Robert E. Lee that had been on display at West Point.

That tells you everything you need to know about that outfit.

If Pete’s family hadn’t retain the acceptance letter these last 25 years, would West Point have admitted the truth?

they never dreamed he had his acceptance letter. Of course they knew. If no one gets fired for this there is no justice.

It is really sad that ProPublica even thought this was a story.

West Point, Annapolis, and the AF Academy are all infested with treasonous crap. Period. Those of us who graduated back in the days before the left took over remember honor and integrity. Now? Those academies have “cadet political officers” who wear special insignia. Their job is to report those who say the wrong things. Not kidding. The sooner we flush the turds AND MAKE THEM PAY FOR TRYING TO RUIN TALENTED AND DEDICATED FUTURE OFFICERS, the better. I’ll let “make them pay” be further defined by real leaders...who currently are not leading any of the academies.

And how many of us keep things like that?

Pete’s biggest problem in the next four years will be getting intentionally bad advice that is meant to set him up.

Hopefully, he can find some trustworthy advisors.

Thank you for your service. Graduating one of the academies is a major life triumph.

Either that or it is EXTREMELY GROSS incompetence at the U.S. Military Academy.

Either way, it speaks VERY poorly of them.

Not good enough. I want to see firings and resignations. There is no excuse for this to have happened.

I think there is going to be serious, possibly violent, resistance among some senior officers to the new regime.

I hope loyal officers have been identified and are prepared to defend the Constitution if required.

In 2020, General Milley announced that, in the event of a dispute about the election, that the military would not follow "illegal orders" from President Trump.

Have any senior officers made a public statement about not following illegal orders during the 2024 transition process or before the inauguration?

Indeed. Pete needs to see the persons responsible are fired or discharged and demoted.
