The study examined how EV growth in the western United States will impact the regional electric grid by 2035. If current trends persist, with the majority of charging occurring at home overnight, peak electricity demand could surge by up to 25%.
This increase would necessitate significant investments in new generation and storage capacity, likely involving natural gas—a counterproductive measure for decarbonization efforts.
Optimizing the placement of public charging stations has been a focus of research, but long-term solutions require accurate modeling of charging behaviors, including where, when, and how frequently drivers charge their vehicles.

There aren't any! The whole thing is cuckoo!
It was 13 degrees here last night. How long would a partial charge last in this weather?
No sh!t.....really???
How much did the study cost to come up with that bit of original information I wonder.
What’s next, they gonna alert us all to EVs spontaneously combusting after salt water intrusion?
The clock is ticking in California and a few other states. Gavin Newsom and the California Air Resources Board, decreed that sales of new internal combustion engine vehicles will be banned in 2035.
There are also federal EPA regulations in years ahead, to encourage, compel, force, increased percentage of vehicles to be electric.
We’re trying to force feed electric cars, when we don’t have the electrical generating capacity or grid to accommodate this.
Anyone who charges an EV at night is a TOTAL IDIOT, since it can easily mean having your house burn down (unless you’re able to charge it away from your house).
Ping.

How can they outlaw ICE vehicles in 6 years?
The hate America Democrats and Globalists (same thing) don’t want anyone driving except the elites.
Another endorsement for EVs, this time from the eggheads at Stanford.

Can’t have current power plants run 100% 24/7 I think.
Makes sense to me you have yo first fill out a deeper energy grid for that much power.
The charging stations should be at the fire stations.
Yes, that statement is correct. But only if the needed electric power can magically appear out of nowhere. Maybe this guy can help.
Because solar panels don’t work at night?.................
It’s a trap!!
You won’t be allowed to use an ICE vehicle, and you won’t be allowed to charge your EV at home, but only at a tax-added charging station, if you can find one, and if you haven’t exceeded your allotted miles that week.
moot point
the push for evs is to force most onto public transportation
All part of the plan... move everyone over to EV’s, don’t expand the grid, government controls and rations electricity.
Dems hate humankind and want a massive die-off of humans from the face of the earth. Therefore their EV plan makes sense.
The huge irony in this is that utilities 40 years ago dreamed of EVs as a way to use their under-utilized base load generation plants at night. They were seen as a way to levelize the load through day and night.
But that raison d’être went away when the greeniacs shut down all the coal, oil and nuclear plants.
