Vice President Kamala Harris has pushed into the lead over former President Donald Trump in the latest daily tracking poll of the 2024 presidential election.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that, if the election were held today, 48% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for Harris and 47% would vote for Trump. Two percent (2%) say they’d vote for some other candidate and three percent (3%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
In the previous survey, Trump led by two points, with 49% to Harris’s 47%. This is the first time Harris has led since Rasmussen Reports began its daily tracking poll on October 15. Each daily result reflects a four-night average of nightly samples.

Ah, plus or minus 1 or 2 on either side means that it could just as likely be plus or minus 2 on the other side the next day.
What matters is that plus 2 isn’t enough for her.
New York is going 15 percent in favor of harris...I live here, that was never in doubt.
It’s DOWN from 23 percent last time but I figured hardcore leftists in New York and CA would stay hardcore leftists.
That outsized lead she has in these 2 states EASILY can account for a 2 percent lead and she STILL can get squashed in the election.
Honestly, I think if she’s not up by 3 percent or more, she loses.
Hillary was up 2.1, I think.

The joy ride is over. Despite her campaign’s best efforts to keep her afloat by avoiding the media and not discussing policy, Kamala Harris has come crashing down to Earth. The momentum she gained because her name wasn’t ‘Joe Biden’ has faded.
Donald J. Trump has retaken the momentum in the final weeks of the 2024 election, which must be giving Democrats heartburn. It takes a special kind of sucky candidate to amass a $1 billion war chest and be incapable of mounting a significant lead over Trump.
Kamala is underwater with most core voter groups she needs to win. Trump could win the Hispanic vote in 2024, with Latino and Black men especially getting aboard the MAGA train. Is it a concern? Yes, because Barack Obama threw a tantrum about it recently while doing a campaign event in Pittsburgh.
The vice president avoided the media and outlined her vision for America. She said she wouldn’t do anything differently than Joe Biden. All of that has sunk her in the polls. Now, with no time left, all she can do is call Trump a fascist and hope the latest string of fake news stories resonates—neither is happening.
So, with Trump back in the driver’s seat, liberal networks are melting down.
CNN had Hillary Clinton whip out the Nazi card, calling Trump’s planned rally at Madison Square Garden a stage from which the former president could reenact a Nazi rally.
Van Jones said Kamala’s disastrous CNN town hall event this week was fraught with word salad, but she passed the test or something.
Finally, Alencia Johnson melted down over Kamala’s collapse, claiming that all women who voted for Trump are internalizing misogyny.
Grab and drink and enjoy, but also don’t forget to vote.
Probably an outlier based on Rasmussen’s continuous model showing Trump up consistently 2 points. There’s nothing that has happened that could have caused a three point shift in public opinion. Sometimes, even when you try not to, you get a heavy democrat sample.

I hang up on pollsters. I suspect I am not the only non-Democrat who does the same.
I think Hillary was up by 5.1 and Biden over 8. However the pollsters should have accounted for that and made adjustments. Or maybe you meant Rasmussen. I know they adjusted methodology by about 2 points due to the difference between their 2020 polls and the real vote.
As you noted national polls can skew things esp NY and CA which are roughly 60-40 strongholds, but whether one wins by 50.1 to 49.9 or 100-0 in the popular vote it doesn’t change the EC.
At the same time, CA and NY could also be balanced out by places like TX and FL if the electorate there have swung more towards GOP than previously - though I don’t think they’ve ever been 60-40. So it’s hard to really know anything. Just gotta vote and pray for the country.
