A year of fleeing across Gaza
The Associated Press ^ | October 6, 2024 | BY WAFAA SHURAFA AND LEE KEATH

Ne’man Abu Jarad sat on a tarp on the ground. Around him, canvas sheets hung from cords, forming the walls of his tent. For the past year, Ne’man; his wife, Majida; and their six daughters have trekked the length of the Gaza Strip, trying to survive as Israeli forces wreaked destruction around them.

It’s a far cry from their house in northern Gaza — a place of comforting routine, of love, affection and safety. A place where loved ones gathered around the kitchen table or on the roof on summer evenings amid the scent of roses and jasmine flowers.

“Your house is your homeland. Everything good in our life was the home,” Ne’man said. “Everything in it, whether physical or intangible -- family, neighbors, my siblings who were all around me.

“We are missing all that.”

The Abu Jarad family lost that stability when Israel launched its campaign in Gaza in retaliation for Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack.

They did exactly as the Israelis ordered in the devastating weeks and months of war that followed. They obeyed evacuation calls. They moved where the military told them to move. Seven times they fled, and each time, their lives became more unrecognizable to them, crowding with strangers in a school classroom, searching for water in a vast tent camp or sleeping on the street.

The Associated Press traced the family’s journey as they were driven from their home. Israel’s campaign has displaced nearly the entire population of Gaza – 1.9 million of its 2.3 million Palestinians — and killed more than 41,600 people. Like the Abu Jarads, most families have been uprooted multiple times.

For this family, the journey has taken them from a comfortable middle-class life to ruin.

Such a sweet family. Maybe they really are, but I’d like to know if they went out on the streets and cheered when Israelis were slaughtered or if they held a hostage.

Gosh, what a sad story.

I have just one question: do they now regret supporting Hamas?

If not, f*** ‘em.

India has people reporting that Iran may have successfully tested a nuclear device.
They cleared the airspace around the area for “military” exercises and just after the notification to clear the airspace seismic activity was recorded.

The seismic activity indicated nuclear explosion.

They are assessing the incident.
More to come no doubt.

For this family, the journey has taken them from a comfortable middle-class life to ruin.

But I thought the poor Arabs were living in tents in Gaza while the mean ol Israelis took all their food and that was why the rape and murder of a bunch of people at a concert by the long suffering victims of this horrible oppression was totally justified?

I am afraid you are going to have to pick a narrative and stick to it AP.

Fixed it: edited for truth

The Abu Jarad family lost that stability when Hamas launched the Oct. 7 attack to murder, rape, torture and kidnap Israeli citizens, making videos and parading some through Gaza.

IIRC====THE RESIDENTS OF GAZA VOTED FOR HAMAS TO REPRESENT THEM POLITICALLY FORWARD FOREVER.

THEY VOTED FOR THEIR OWN TROUBLES.

How many Israeli hostages did they keep for Hamas? The story kind of forgets that part...

Were you part of the 70% of gazans who voted hamas into power? Then, you deserve all the ‘Ell you get.

A place where the hamas tunnel entrances under the kids’ beds were hardly noticed under lovely persian carpets….

Cry me a river.

The Oct 7 attack required an appropriate response.

Where was the Ass press when the Israelis were butcher, tortured, raped, and kidnapped? And they’re running a sob story about some Palestinian who’s been *displaced* from home because of the terrorists who they have allowed to live among them for decades?

Spare me the whining.

86 percent of gazans openly supported the Hamas terrorist murder gangsters

I feel sorry for the remaining 14 percent that they’ve been caught up in Hamas’ violence, they should return home to Egypt or Arabia and may they make good lives for themselves

Hamas (and Hezballah and PLO terrorists) are on their self-selected path to Jahannam (Moslem Hell), the handful of good, decent Moslems that are in the way need to get the F out of the way now.

They left out the Hamas weapons cache and tunnel entrance in the basement.

AP has been publishing woe-is-me stories like this for decades, pretty much ignoring the fact that 80% of the gaza population supported hamas and their savage, inhuman attacks on Israel civilians, leading up to and including the October attacks, and literally dancing in the streets after October 7 ...

“For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.”

F ‘em ...
