NEWT GINGRICH: At VP debate a star is born and Trump is vindicated

Callista and I went to bed on Tuesday night convinced that Sen. Vance had won a substantial triumph. In that victory, he also vindicated President Donald J. Trump’s gamble in selecting a running mate so early in his career. At 40, with only two years in the U.S. Senate, Vance is only a few months older than Richard Nixon when President Dwight Eisenhower picked him to be the Republican vice presidential nominee in 1952. Nixon would remain a major part of the political scene for 42 years. That would give Sen. Vance a potential role in American government and politics until 2066.

When I got up on Wednesday morning, virtually all the commentaries validated the sense that the debate was something extraordinary.

New York Times columnist Ross Douthat posted: "I would rate that the most successful Republican debate performance of this century, eclipsing Romney in the first debate with Obama in 2012."

These were just a few. The Trump-Vance campaign collected no fewer than 22 journalists and public figures who agreed that Vance trounced Walz.

Donald Trump Jr. was the third big winner in this debate. He had strongly backed Sen. Vance as a running mate and worked to get his father to pick him. That choice certainly seemed to work out brilliantly.

After last night, Sen. Vance is a huge national figure among Republicans and conservatives. He will have much more impact campaigning than he did before the debate.

[cut]

A vindicated President Trump will campaign with more enthusiasm and a greater sense of certainty that he has built a winning ticket.

It was a much bigger night than I expected.

I heard Don Jr today. He played a huge role to have JD Vance as VP. And he’s a great choice..

No one knows his father better than Don Jr. and he knew that JD would be able to fulfill Trump’s promise that MAGA is a movement, not just about him.

JD is able to present MAGA in a different way and thus appeal to some who are put off by Trump to the extent they don’t hear the message. Traditional wisdom is to pick a VP who brings a state or group that is needed, but the selection of Vance brings in a different style and personality.

Trump can only serve one term. He made a wise choice in Vance. He is a young man that can carry on the same political agenda and philosophy.

Trump actually won the last election but it was stolen. A friend of mine is an ex air force pilot, engineer, and statistician. He also taught statistics. I spoke to him about the last election. I have had only one course in statistics but spotted anomalies in the distribution of votes and time and asked his opinion. He had seen the same thing. Without hesitation he said, “the election was stolen.” The strange statistical anomalies only happened in battleground states.

Irony.
The same was said about Sarah Palin, until the RINO backstabbers and their MSM enablers chimed in.

Watch out, JD.

I have to agree with that. Right or wrong, Trump's style is an immediate turnoff to some in the political middle.

Why do these old farts want themselves and others to remain on the job until they are 80s?

The good news is that there are not nearly as many RINO backstabbers today as there were when Palin was on the ticket.

I have had only one course in statistics but spotted anomalies in the distribution of votes and time and asked his opinion.

These statistics alone prove it was stolen.

Wins 18 of 19 Bellwether counties
Wins Florida, Ohio, and Iowa

The RINOs were at their Zenith when Sarah Palin was nominated. They turned on her from the git go.

The good news is that today the RINOs are gone or dead. Today's Republican Party is not the party of John McCain and Mitt Romney. The Bill Kristols are outsiders now. Good riddance. Thank you President Trump!

I think that Trump has the ideas and sets the policies. And can make deals better than anyone.
Some sensitive people don’t like the way he talks or presents his program. He’s a brash New Yorker.

Vance is part of the ticket. Same ideas. Same policies.
He speaks very well. Smoothly and softly. Gets his points across in a gracious and articulate manner.

People who “don’t like Trump” ought to listen to JD Vance and realize that they actually like Trump a lot more than they thought they did. Because the ideas and the policies are really the only things that matter. And that’s Trump.

Hey if fossilized dinosaurs they are finally something useful — crude oil which can finally generate a return. But as they were rinos it’s that Venezuelan heavy crap that needs a lot of refining. Not light sweet crude.

Looking over the polls it’s impossible to tell. They favor Harris.
