Howdy, luvie.

Yes, things that I don’t feel like chasing down across the farm are secured. Still don’t know how strong the winds will be tomorrow but that stuff’s ready at least.
We’ve been getting some light rain since a little before sunset and that’s most welcome. And it was so nice and cool today.

IN FOR THE COUNT

Good evening Ma ((HUGS))
How're things up your way? Still warmish? Or getting colder?

Too darn warm and dry here, but it IS the desert, so why am I surprised. LOL!

I’m glad you aren’t in the path, but hope the rain you get is minimal.

Is the kitchen finished? Are ya lovin’ it?

Not quite done. New counter comes next Wednesday; then, the contractor comes Friday to do the finishing touches. Pictures to follow.

She has very oily fur, two coats, and water rolls off her back like a duck.

Her big towl takes off the surface water, but she’s dry underneath.

Cattle dogs are amazing.

Yikes! Is he on the peninsula or on the panhandle? Either way, I hope he isn’t anywhere near the Big Bend part of the state.

We’re supposed to get a good dose of rain from the storm and are under a flood watch. And a wind advisory for tomorrow. Our trees are so weak from the drought this summer, there’ll probably be power outages from tree limbs falling on power lines. Hoping it doesn’t happen here!
It’s just a wait-and-see situation.

Howdy, Kathy.

I saw SUNSHINE up your way earlier when I checked the LH cam. ‘Bout time y’all got some! I hope it sticks around a while.
Earlier today, the mountains were invisible due to fog and low clouds. It looks so weird when they aren’t in view.

Yikes! I hope it doesn’t get too bad for you. Getting prepared just in case?

He lives on the peninsula but not sure how close to the Gulf. He said the should be ok.

LOL

Yup, same here.

I try not to complain too much about the rain because I don’t want to jinx it and fall into a drought. But I really could use a couple of sunny days.

Ooooo…I’m so jealous of your rain. However, I won’t be envious of any high wind that you get. I just hope that too much rain doesn’t affect the trees being uprooted.

Glad that you have battened down the area!

Reckless and Careless

Bible in a Year :

A fool is reckless and careless.

Proverbs 14:16 esv

Lindisfarne, also known as Holy Island, is a tidal island in England connected to the mainland by a narrow road. Twice a day, the sea covers the causeway. Signs alert visitors to the dangers of crossing during high tide. Yet, tourists regularly disregard the warnings and often end up sitting atop submerged cars or swimming to raised safety huts where they can be rescued. The tide is predictable, as sure as the rising sun. And warnings are everywhere; you can’t possibly miss them. Yet, as one writer described, Lindisfarne is “where the reckless try to outrace the tide.”

Proverbs tells us that it’s foolish to be “reckless and careless” (14:16 esv). A reckless person has little regard for wisdom or wise counsel and doesn’t practice attentiveness or diligent care for others (vv. 7-8). Wisdom, however, slows us down to listen and ponder so that we’re not carried away by rash emotions or half-baked ideas (v. 16). Wisdom teaches us to ask good questions and consider the implications of our actions. While reckless people charge forward with little regard for relationships or consequences—or often truth—“prudent [people] give thought to their steps” (v. 15).

While we’ll sometimes need to act decisively or swiftly, we can resist recklessness. As we receive and practice God’s wisdom, He’ll give us the guidance we need when we need it.

Reflect & Pray

Where have you seen reckless living? How can you avoid living recklessly?

Dear God, we live in a reckless world. Please help me to be wise and live well.
