Companies Are Quickly Firing Gen Z Employees
Newsweek ^ | Sep 23, 2024 | Suzanne Blake

Posted on 09/24/2024 3:25:20 AM PDT by fwdude

Companies are rapidly firing Gen Z employees just months after they hired them, according to a new report from Intelligent.com, but instead of putting the blame on G Z-ers, one expert told Newsweek whose fault it may really be.

The survey revealed that one in six businesses said they were hesitant to hire recent college graduates over concerns about how prepared they are for the work as well as their communication skills and professionalism.

And a whopping six in 10 employers had already fired college graduates who were hired in 2024. One in seven said they might refrain from hiring new college grads next year as well.

Why would companies want to get rid of employees who know so very much? Some of them probably know everything.

Funny how the article puts so much value in “college graduates”. Majoring in Women’s Studies or 14th Century French Art prepares you for nothing.

Today’s college degree ain’t yesterday’s college degree. Not by a mile.

The comments section at “Newsweak” is pathetic, with people defending the unfit grads. “Not their fault.”

Majoring in 14th century French art (if there is such a thing) gives a person a deep appreciation for our people and our shared European heritage.

It is the anthesis of majoring in Women’s Studies.

“However, companies have an equal responsibility to prepare recent graduates for their particular workplace and give them the best chance to succeed.”

Every time I was hired, I was expected to hit the ground running as much as possible, with my employer providing only basic company-specific training. Now employers are expecting to provide a full education to their new delicate doilies?

“Instead of teaching new hires what they want from them, employers are simply firing workers for not being prepared.”

It’s called, “the real world” / “life”.

“instead of putting the blame on G Z-ers, one expert told Newsweek whose fault it may really be.”

No; it’s the Gen Z-ers’ fault, blame to be partially shared by their loser parents.

Maybe their Gen X or Y parents have as much blame as anybody. They’re the ones that paid for all those dreadful educations, or arranged for, or supported in numerous ways. Kids should be ready for work long before college.

True, unfortunately the contemporary Right in the US seems to think non-western immigrants from Asia are a good thing.

Employers most often cited a lack of motivation in their recent graduate hires, at 50 percent, while 39 percent said poor communication skills and 46 percent said a lack of professionalism made this cohort difficult to work with.

Blah blah blah...its all the company’s fault for not “offering” training, ie, throwing money down a hole, to try to convince the little darlings to just work.
You know how a work environment operates. Some veteran will tell you whats expected and you start doing it their way, the company way.Or you get canned.
What you do NOT do is expect to have your every whim satisfied or a work environment tailored to suit you.
Seems lots of these kids are hearing “No” for the first time and they don’t like it.
TFB.

I suspect it’s more than the work to be done. Unspoken is the appearance and manner of these new Gen Z employees. Gaudy tats everywhere, piercings in ungodly places, and purple hair don’t generally fly well in corporate environments. They are probably also subtle activists for leftist causes at work.

Today’s college degree ain’t yesterday’s college degree. Not by a mile.

I suspect many could pass a 1900 High School test to graduate.

The UK has a system we could learn from. Two things, first mandatory education stops at 16. If you don’t want to go to school when 16 fine and dandy go out into the work force and get on with your life.

The second thing is the key. Just because you WANT to go to University you can’t unless you pass a series of test. If you don’t pass these test you don’t get in.

Unlike here in the US if you can not read or write but are able to get a student loan you can get in.

That’s what happens when you choose to get rid of “Boomers.” There are no succession or retention planning strategies which means new employees have no knowledge to tap into because their knowledge base is spending their time spraying and praying their resumes on LinkedIn.

So the authors are putting blame on the companies for not trying the people they hire and the educational system.instead of the actual problem which is the employee

Understand higher learning institutions should share blame because they suck at best but how about the student and parents.

Resumes can be faked but interviews and performance can’t be.

My stupid ex-son-in-law has a Masters Degree in Psychology and is driving a fork lift in a factory. Some degrees like that are worthless and the Prof’s are liberal blowhards.

My degree in Electrical Engineering gave me a good income but it didn’t come without stress. One Oh $hit wipes out a hundred AttaBoys.

Well, there’s always Starbucks.

Not really. They’re closing stores. Good news tho’. With the draft coming back they’ll find gainful employment being all blowed up in WWIII.

Not mentioned is that many of the kids graduating college are mentally ill. Colleges are insane asylums.

Facts.. College today is a scam... it’s been going on for a while. 15 years ago I had a new graduate, zero experience, asking over $125,000 for starting pay. And I asked why, “ my professors told me I’m worth that” .. I said have a wonderful afternoon and left the interview.
