Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) highlighted the “horror” of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, and his own response, in an ad released Tuesday as part of his campaign for the U.S. Senate.
“On January 6, as we watched in horror, Hogan didn’t just talk about defending democracy, he did something. Sending in the Maryland National Guard to protect the Capitol,” the narrator says in the TV ad, titled “Never Backs Down.”
“That’s the same Larry Hogan. Tough. Independent. Never backs down,” the narrator continues.
The one-minute ad shows footage from the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, along with a news clip that says Hogan sent in 500 Maryland National Guard troops and 200 state troopers to assist in defending the Capitol that day.

Sit down larry.
Oh the horror of people walking in the Capitol taking selfies!
A porky pig looking dunce.
The horror is the first mass arrest of political prisoners in the United States.
Too chicken to call out the Floyd riots . What a wimp
How about the horrors of the summer of love, Larry?
Or is fighting Democrat totalitarianism harming your allies too much?
Christopher Wray still hasn’t answered how many federal imbeds/provocateurs infested the crowd.
The only horror here is this consciencer-free traitor.
conscience-free
I wish I had a Senate candidate I could, in good conscience, vote for on October 27th (My Maryland early voting day).
However, I cannot bring myself to cast a vote for HOGan who’s never uttered a kind word for/of President Trump and rejects the MAGA agenda. BTW, I never supported him for governor either.
One ironic aspect of voting this time in Maryland:
I will be casting my sixth vote for my favorite POTUS (3 primaries & now 3 generals) while at the same time voting to retain my Congressman Dr Andy HARRIS (the lone MD GOP Rep out of 8 CDS).
Agree.
Andy is mine also. Very good Congressman.
Sending in the MD national guard, really? WHO requested them? not nantzi, and not mitch. Sowhen was that bozo? ever hear of Posse Comitatus? In the case of DC the Congress- rep’d by Speaker and Senate Majority leader must request them— they didn’t— NOT even from Trump you fat dumba@@!!
You would have had your own legislature put in jail, no charges-— if you were around when Lincoln did THAT!! How bout it fatso?
Horror? Maybe to the scrotes working in the Capitol building.
It was very telling how they all fled in terror, running down halls like Josh Hawley, hiding below balconies, crouching like under artillery fire like coward Ranger Jason Crowe.
It’s like someone taking off running when they see a police car. They know their crimes and thought they were facing arrest.
Not a single Congressfool walked out to greet the crowd and speak with them. They could have easily done so.
Seriously debating the idea of a large $$ donation to his
Democrat Party opponent....
“I literally died” drama queen
I was there that day. I was so dangerous that Rep. Vernon Jordan stopped to chat with me and my daughters, and let us take selfies with him, when he exited the building.
Sending in the Maryland National Guard after everything was completely calm so that the entire area of the Congressional buildings could be fenced off for months. Trump asked for the National Guard before January 6 and was rejected.
Larry Hogan is a huge disappointment.
Republicans in MD need to take a hint from Nancy Pelosi. For many years, she told her moderate members in swing districts to feel free to vilify her all they wanted, so long as they won their race. Hogan presents a rare opportunity to flip a blue Senate seat to red. It is true he would be a Susan Collin’s type in the Senate, but he would also give Senators like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz chairmanships.
