Security forces at the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland (JBSA) returned fire early Saturday on at least one drive-by suspect who is accused of firing upon the main gate at the JBSA-Chapman Training Annex, a JBSA spokesperson tells Fox News Digital.
The officers were fired upon at around 4:30 a.m. by at least one suspect in a sedan and immediately returned fire. There were no injuries reported, and the gate was shut for a number of hours.

“ Base security didn’t give chase and arrest the perp? They just let him drive away? WTH?”
Ask SAPD about that. Off base is their jurisdiction

They could have given chase and called in the local constabulary to assist and arrest. How many times have you seen USAF SPs outside of a USAF Base? There is a reason you haven't.

Of course, that’s assuming the guard was military which it very likely wasn’t.I had that thought myself.

Civilian police have power outside of their jurisdictions when in “hot pursuit”. I wonder if the same is true for military police. How could they? They have military security training, not training of the laws and ordinances in the civilian community. Look at it this way:
Martial law involves the temporary substitution of military authority for civilian rule and is usually invoked in time of war, rebellion, or natural disaster. When martial law is in effect, the military commander of an area or country has unlimited authority to make and enforce laws.

Worked that gate many times. We always had live ammo.Military bases today are soft targets. The gate guards are split between civilian security (little more than armed mall cops) or Active Duty TAD personnel (out of rate "Temporary Assigned Duty" with minimal small arms training).
They're mostly armed only with 9mm handguns. The majority of M4 rifles and M240 and M2 machine guns are locked up in armories that very few have access to and even fewer have the keys to.

“I hear the LA Olympics are going to add a drive by shooting event.”
I heard that too, but to be clear it’s a biathlon, a Drive By Shoot paired with Slinging the Rocks.

Sending a message that they are in charge of the border states.

Living in Texas I can tell you, they don’t need a reason. Those morons do crap like this for fun.
USUALLY, it’s illegals that can just run back across the border and never show up for court.
BTW, most “Mexican gangsters” are more correctly “Mexican gang-bangers”.

It was 4:30 AM, but maybe there is satellite footage.

So these bastards can drive by and shoot up our bases from off-base and not have to worry about a thing?
Sounds kind of like shoplifting below $950.

Aren’t there any AH-1’s at the base? Put an end to that nonsense right quick.

Now I cannot understand why those Omish from Wisconsin decided to go attack the gate shack at that AF Base in Texas? Oh, right, because Texas is actually protecting the border against all those illegal Guatemalan Omish from crossing over and voting and getting all those free benefits. Should have just know that.

I was AFSC 307x0 in 1976 stationed at McClellan in Sacramento. My name came up for duty as a Security Police Augmentee. They put us on a big blue bus and took us to a field in the back base area. The gave us the long side handle batons and showed us some moves for riot control in case the base perimeter was breached. &nsbp; That never happened and they never called me out again.
