The pro-life opposition to the new RNC platform is painfully naive
American Thinker ^ | July 9, 2024 | Andrea Widburg

The Republican Party just revealed its new platform. The document is calculated to appeal to the needs of ordinary voters sick of cultural and economic Marxism. However, purported Evangelical Christians are suddenly frantically hostile to the RNC and to Trump. There’s something deeply weird about this position, given that it hands a win to “no limits on abortion” Democrats.

You can read the 16-page, small-font 2024 Republican platform here. However, if you don’t want to, Wayne Allyn Root summarizes the core principles in the platform under the heading “Trump chose the issues a huge majority of American voters agree on”:

Root is right: These are issues that appeal to most Americans, including their dislike for the Hamasniks and the alphabet-soup people taking over American education. It’s a pro-American platform that cuts across racial, geographic, and economic divides. It’s a broad-based MAGA winner, and anyone who wants to see the Democrat party harried (politically) from pillar to post should be happy with it.

And yet...

I think the fifth of those nine bullet points is the only one that will come to pass.

Nope. What’s painfully naive is the GOP thinking that the party can survive if they throw the pro-life contingent overboard.

And how, exactly, did they do that?

Tell me explicitly what the platform contains or does not contain that amounts to "throwing the pro-life contingent overboard."

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. - Psalm 14:1

Only fools who believe they themselves to be God refuse to believe that God is sovereign. When Republicans start to agree with the degenerate Democrats on legitimizing the ghastly practice of abortion while validating homosexuality that God calls an abomination, America will suffer the fate of the Israelites who ignored Jesus on the day of their visitation.

You're making emotional statements again and not presenting your evidence.

When and where did "Republicans start to agree with the degenerate Democrats on legitimizing the ghastly practice of abortion?"

Be specific please.

“Evangelicals have been the ones leading this fight.”

Evangelicals were late arrivals to the fight. The Catholics have long led the fight.

Not when we look at presidential voting patterns.

This https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4195745/posts?page=34#34 was my response to your request last night but I mistakenly sent it to Publius on a different thread.

I'm not certain this account marks the exact when and where the Republicans climbed on board with the degenerate democrats, President Nixon obviously wasn't on board.

I'd say it was shortly after it became apparent Nixon was going to pay the price for disagreeing with Rockefeller III

If abortion is not a national issue, then why does The Republican NATIONAL Convention want to go out of their way to make it part of the national agenda?

Just like the Angry Trumpers who have promised to abandon Trump if he should pick _______ as his running mate - will do so anyway, Pro-aborts will also vote for Trump despite his compromising positions.

What the the other options? Vote for a “Rat?

Calling for a national ban is the federal government overreach that we are always complaining about.

Yet that is exactly what the RNC is doing.

Oh, yeah?

Below are the planks of the new platform. (Link to Official Platform)

Show me where they are doing that.

None of that is relevant to today after Trump's successful end to Roe v Wade.

Below are the planks of the new platform. (Link to Official Platform)

Which plank abandons you?

The democrats position is that abortion should be a national policy.

Official Repubilcan policy is that abortion should NOT be a national policy.

To say that the RNC platform is not neutral on a national level is a lie.

Official Repubilcan policy is that abortion should NOT be a national policy.

With the United States Supreme Court overturn of Roe v. Wade under Trump, abortion is now a state issue, which is as it should be.

Each state has its own criminal justice system that enforces its own criminal code, all of which outlaw murder.

By your logic, we need a "national ban" on murder.

Do you believe murder is not illegal enough when states outlaw it?

Calling for a national abortion ban is the federal government overreach that we are always complaining about.

The plank that apparently abandons some Republican voters. It's on page 15 of 16. I can't imagine how anyone would vote for Biden or stay home over that. It's a constitutional issue which could be solved with an amendment. IMO electoral practicality excludes that from a party platform.

4. Republicans Will Protect and Defend a Vote of the People, from within the States, on the Issue of Life

We proudly stand for families and Life. We believe that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States guarantees that no person can be denied Life or Liberty without Due Process, and that the States are, therefore, free to pass Laws protecting those Rights. After 51 years, because of us, that power has been given to the States and to a vote of the People. We will oppose Late Term Abortion, while supporting mothers and policies that advance Prenatal Care, access to Birth Control, and IVF (fertility treatments).

Do you not know there are Federal laws specifically making murder illegal? Of course there is a “national ban”.
