New York Dem will introduce amendment to reverse Supreme Court immunity ruling
The Hill ^ | 07/01/2024 | Miranda Nazzaro

Rep. Joe Morelle (D-N.Y.) said Monday he will introduce a constitutional amendment to reverse the Supreme Court ruling issued Monday, which largely shields former presidents from criminal prosecution for actions in office. “I will introduce a constitutional amendment to reverse SCOTUS’ harmful decision and ensure that no president is above the law. This amendment will do what SCOTUS failed to do—prioritize our democracy,” Morelle wrote on the social platform X.

Wait a min. Several states have passed an amendment to their respective state’s Constitution.
Only to have a court rule the Constitutional Amendment “unconstitutional”

So how can congress override USSC.

This goes two ways, idiot democrats.

If the bill passes then Bill Clinton will be thrown in prison for his order in 1999 to strike a commuter train in Serbia, killing scores of civilians. That was a direct war crime. Democrats will blame NATO but it was Clinton who demanded the hit. He also bombed a medicine factory in Sudan during the Lewinsky fiasco.

Obama and Puppet Biden will also be in prison for malfeasance. Those two are the most relieved that the SC ruled on the presidential immunity case.
>

The problem here is these are STILL *UNLAWFUL* acts of the President. There was no war declared via Congress. Even IF war *were* declared these are still not ‘military targets’.

Being CiC doesn’t give blanket amnesty for any/every thing related to the military. It still must be a LEGAL act of their position.

How about an amendment to hold Congress members accountable for things they say in chamber?

Would this guy support that?
>

Eh? Nobody held the Left accountable to their rhetoric of instigating the fascist Left’s (I repeat myself) “Summer of Love”. THAT was all ‘non-chamber’

Schumer threatening SCOTUS on their own steps? Outside of ‘chamber’....ZERO done.

Wake me when we have ANY semblance of Rule of/Equal Under the Law

Congress cannot change the Constitution.

It would take an amendment to override this court opinion:

Or stacking the court in the finest Sodomite/Democrat fashion....:->

Being a Congressman, one should know these things.

That’s the crux of the situation. Democrats believe things are unidirectional. All laws, rules, and court decisions must benefit the left and punish the right. If that same law, rule, and court decision benefited a person on the right at a different point in time, it’s a travesty.

Congress cannot change the Constitution.

I don't think these idiot DEI promotions know the first thing about the Constitution.

I'll watch them on X spout the most ridiculous drivel about the workings of government. They think that when Trump was in office, he was hamstrung to do ANYTHING, but Biden has an open hand to do whatever he wants, including "expanding the Court" with a simple wave of his wand.

“They are desperate to kill Trump.
But good luck getting this past the high hurdles needed for an Amendment. Maybe the Dems will just “deem” it passed.”

It’s more than that. The New Yost Post has exposed the real reason the Democrats are yelling their fool-heads off now.

It seems that Democratic donors are giving Biden a two-week grace period in the wake of his disastrous debate performance against former President Donald Trump to show raising poll numbers. Any decline in the 81-year-old president’s polling numbers after those two weeks are up will become problematic and difficult for donors to stomach.

Does this idiot realize that reversing the immunity ruling will affect dems too? I guess they think they can fix it again for the dems after Trump is in prison.

Even if they could change the Constitution, it wouldn’t apply to Donald Trump 1st term.

I believe it would be an ex post facto law.

This SCOTUS ruling, not their opinion, sent presidential immunity back to the lower court. It ducked the issue. The ruling should be no big deal to anyone.

However, the opinion SCOTUS issued with the ruling says that the lower courts must honor the presidential immunity which previous Supreme Courts have upheld. That’s what has Democrat panties in a wad.
