Rep. Joe Morelle (D-N.Y.) said Monday he will introduce a constitutional amendment to reverse the Supreme Court ruling issued Monday, which largely shields former presidents from criminal prosecution for actions in office. “I will introduce a constitutional amendment to reverse SCOTUS’ harmful decision and ensure that no president is above the law. This amendment will do what SCOTUS failed to do—prioritize our democracy,” Morelle wrote on the social platform X.

Of course this goes nowhere, but it does show us what kind of ignorant pigs we’re dealing with.
Ex post facto much?
Would this guy support that?

They act as if this is some kind of new thing when this immunity is as old as the presidency itself. They’re just gaslighting their base as usual... It’s so shameful.
It’s DOA so irrelevant.
“Kind of dense, isn’t he? This ruling protects Biden, Obama and Clinton, as much as it protects Trump and any other president. Of course, Biden’s document stashing from his VP days isn’t protected.”
A lot of people are missing your final point. The immunity ruling was for acts as President. Biden’s criminal acts as VP aren’t covered. Of course, we would need an actual unbiased and non-political DOJ to follow the trail of corruption and actually bring charges, but it could be done.
The checks and balances are what matters here.
High crimes and misdemeanors. Congress is the check on the Presidential power through impeachment.
Now follow the new line of thinking, if Congress successfully impeaches a President for abuse of power, that abuse of power is then potentially deemed outside the protection of immunity. Which then moves the High Crime to the prosecutorial system and court.
Abuse of power, usurpation of power, etc. all these actions would need to be “checked” by Congress. Once ‘checked’ by Congress this would potentially move whatever crimes to the judicial system.
In the case of J6, Trump was acquitted by Congress. Therefore it should follow the case being brought against him should be dismissed. This would be the logical following based on the Supreme Court’s ruling of immunity.
If this idiot had paid any attention when studying the Constitution he might remember that Ex Post Facto legislation is in fact, unconstitutional.
New Dorkers gotta be New Dorkers.
Idiot Morelle needs to read Article V.
As usual the Libs. seek to rewrite reality into a narrative that butchers reality. Here they spout out ‘absolute immunity’ to signal that the decision supports dictatorship. This is the picture they want to create for Trump. Reality, however, is no where close to their narrative. The Court’s Immunity exists for ‘official acts’ performed by the president in the scope of his official duties as president. Thus, presidential immunity is ‘qualified’ not ‘absolute.’ What the Court created is certainly not ‘absolute immunity’ in any sense of the word. They are desperately gas-lighting like crazy to shape public discussion in their own twisted way to deceive. Only fools will fall for it.
Does he WANT all Trump’s predecessors thrown in jail? Because that’s how you get Trump’s predecessors thrown in jail.
good luck getting the 2/3 votes of both houses!
LMAO
lame attempt to change subject from Biden dementia IMO
Has the satanic left explained exactly why the seething hatred of trump?
It borders on insane, irrational and such loathing day after day after day can only come from the pits of hell.
Sure, Trump is no choir boy - but there is simply no justification for all this.
Boycott New York...make ‘em squeal!
Dumbocrats are upset with the MAGA Supreme Court, as they call them. But, these same radical liberals want to add liberal justices and stack the court so every ruling is in their favor. That, of course, would be okay.
So if this amendment should pass, would we now be able to try Barack Obama for murder for killing American citizens in targeted missile strikes?
I’m gonna say what we’re all thinking. Dropdead New York!
