What if democracy’s not actually at stake?
Central Maine ^ | 6/30/24 | Jim Fossel

Democrats don't believe the election comes down to this; nor should we.

Democrats have a slogan this presidential election: “Democracy is at stake.”

Or, they might have a slogan. They’re still running the numbers on it, and they’re not quite sure whether to go with it. While Biden’s “brain trust” is reportedly committed to that message, other Democrats aren’t so sure; apparently it doesn’t poll all that well. By debating the strategy, they’re making it clear that they don’t really believe it. Of course, treating it as a campaign tactic makes that obvious.

If Democrats seriously believed Trump was a threat to democracy, they’d have nominated somebody completely different who could appeal to more of the country.

snip

It’s not just that Democrats aren’t treating this campaign as if they really believed democracy were in peril; they’re not preparing for the future as if it were, either. While they’re planning to resist a potential future Trump administration, they seem to be mostly going about it in the usual ways. Activist groups, despite their rhetoric, are planning for lawsuits, adverse Supreme Court rulings and potential IRS audits, according to the New York Times.

That’s not how you prepare for a dictatorship – it’s how you subvert an administration with which you disagree. If you’re really worried about a dictatorship, you plan marches in the streets, sit-ins, mass demonstrations or a general strike, not lawsuits. Rather than plotting a general strike, we see labor leaders weighing who to endorse: Teamsters President Sean O’Brien, for instance, recently met with Trump and is slated to speak to the Republican National Convention.

Democracy is at stake!

So help re-elect the figurehead POTUS so an unelected cabal can continue to run things!

“Democrats have a slogan this presidential election: “Democracy is at stake.””

I agree with the Democrats. We’ve already lost Democracy, as we jail political opponents and have a party that actually pushes for Election Fraud. This election is about getting Democracy back...so yes, it is at stake.

Democracy is not ‘at stake’. Western Civilization, on the other hand, IS.

“We faced 8 years of Obama and 8 of Clinton. We’re not dead yet.”

Hey! Here’s to not being dead yet.

Now, let’s get back to watching tv and drinking beer.

Get back to us when we’re almost dead.

Buuuut I was told we were doomed if we didn’t vote for Bush the Elder, Dole, McLame, and Willard.

It’s always The End when it comes to elections. Because that’s what flames fears and opens wallets. All of media is based on engagement (more on that later).

Now, of course things didn’t go the way of life, liberty, and property during those 16 years in the hole. Further, the erosion of liberty and culture during that Bidet Admin is palpable. But in a Constitutionally-limited republic, that’s life. Clarence Thomas got it right, when he wrote about the protests (threats?) from the Roe leak: "We are becoming addicted to wanting particular outcomes, not living with the outcomes we don't like."

Facebook’s algorithm is a case in point. What gets the most comments is really divisive, outrageous stuff, especially stuff that provokes political anger. In turn, on this board, informative, thought-provoking, research-oriented stories get a few comments. But patently false and sensational nonsense from Gateway Pundit, Slay News, and other trashy but not-MSM “sources” get tons of comments. And the whole Russia-UK extravaganza is a breeding ground for wasted bandwidth and trolls.

And right down that hole go previously reasonable “conservatives.” Sure, they’ll vote for Trump. But they’re more like Eeyore than Jefferson. Indeed, for a group of people who trash the trans movement, the irony is that some conservatives seem to have completed their transition to Johnny Fontane.

In the meantime, there are companies and small businesses dying for competent men and women to be hired, to maximize shareholder value. Every Sunday, houses of worship are open - for free! - where people can reconnect with Jesus (Saturday if you’re Jewish). People can walk and drive and move about freely without having to show some Stasi your papers. This 4th of July, you can watch fireworks. On Christmas, you can celebrate Jesus’ birthday. On Thanksgiving, you can eat turkey. Finally, in most of this nation, you can buy a shotgun and 200 rounds in less than an hour.

However, if all you did was consume FR and other media, you’d swear Antifa will be invading your dining room this fall to make your son wear a dress and force-feed you bugz for Festivus. Better bury your guns and buy freeze-dried food.

America is not a democracy. Situational awareness is always to be practiced. Elections ARE important, and Leviathan lurks. But so do unpaid (and paid) provocateurs. Vote, but don’t become someone’s puppet.

Of course that’s been the GOP message also. That’s how they keep people in line in this two party system we were never supposed to have. “We know our candidate sucks, but theirs is so much worse, stay in line”.

The scales have fallen from your eyes too?
It’s as if when the Deep State presented Hillary, the people told them I raise you a Trump, they raised us a Biden to rub it in our face. There would be no greater humiliation/demoralization to the resistance than for Biden to be re-elected b

Dumbmocrazy (MOB RULE) sucks. It’s the reason every freeloading “minority” on the plant is sneaking and taking over countries formally run by WHITE PEOPLE. This horses*** isn’t migration, IT’S COLONIZATION by the third world freaky freeloaders.

“But in a Constitutionally-limited republic, that’s life.”

That’s what the ‘tards tell me (while they’re using it for TP, by the way). They are wrong. It is not a suicide pact, no matter what the left tries to ‘splain to Americans.

Compare life today with life just 20 years ago and we see what complacency buys.

Naw, I don’t think I’ll go back to sleep and let the ‘tards continue their work.

Insults and tantrums change nothing. Folks are paying attention and god willing the commies are going to be sent packing by the adults.

Incidentally, who made you the decider of what the community should be allowed to comment on?

I see you Doodle.

It’s the Republic at stake. Democracies fail because the voters raid the Treasury or anybody earning more than they do. Republics have a rule of Law that respects private property.

When the Dims refer to “Democracy” they are referring to simple, majority rule Democracy characterized by mob rule, no minority rights, no electoral college and tyranny of the majority. The Constitution, for them, is an antique.
