Oklahoma’s Supreme Court on Tuesday struck down the approval for the state’s soon-to-be-opened and highly contentious publicly funded religious charter school, a loss to religious conservatives in the state amid concerns of the blurring of religion and public school.
The state Supreme Court ruled in a 6-2 decision that the St. Isidore of Seville Virtual Catholic Charter School in Oklahoma City violates Oklahoma’s constitution, finding publicly funded charter schools must be nonsectarian.
In its decision, the high court found the school is a governmental entity that, under state law, must be “equally free and open to all students as traditional public schools,” and subject to the “same academic standards.”

Just discussing the legal machinations, flame away and discuss.
There are no public religious schools in the US. They have to be private schools like the Catholic Schools.
Satanist schools get funding right now, in all fifty States AND the District of Corruption.
They just don't call themselves satanist schools. They go by the oh-so-touchy-feely name "Public Schools".
BWAHAhahahahahahahaha!
They promote the religion of buggery, mutilation, and abortion.
This is what will happen to the “10 Commandments” posting requirement in Louisiana.
Indeed, there is no such thing as "value-less" education, or even government.
Humans must have meaning, behavioral guidelines, moral judgements. We can't exist without them.
So by removing Christianity (or attempting to, as its not nearly as easy as marxists think), we just left a big hole for all sorts of conflicting, post-modern sewage to take its place.
The nation desperately needs school vouchers. There is no reason we don’t other than commie teachers unions and government officials won’t allow it.
So what of the Protestants?
Simple: the government ("public") school system WAS the Protestant school system. It had Bible reading, and prayer, and services. And all those things were Protestant. So the Protestants didn't have to set up a system of schools independent of government. And then the government turned on them, and they had nowhere of their own to go.
Government schools have become Pervert schools.
Most folks just tolerate it, because it's "free". People not personally involved in Catholic education, however, might be surprised at the fraction of students in Catholic schools who aren't Catholic. It's often quite high.
The school is probably better off not being beholden to government largess.
Hmmm...
Every single government school in the U.S. is already a satanist school...
Barring religious schools IS a violation of the “separation of church and state” by excluding religious schools and funding secular and atheist ones.
That's been my observation, too. You'd find Protestant children in Catholic schools, especially in the cities. Then, Catholic schools started shutting down.
Then, the homeschool movement grew, mostly in Protestant churches. Now, you'll find Catholic families in Protestant homeschool groups.
It is my experience that Catholic schools have a substantial number of students that are not Catholic.
I guess the sticking point here was direct funding by the state as a charter school.
The government schools have ceased catastrophically to be Protestant. Accordingly, Christians of any stripe who take it seriously find them unsuitable for educating their children. Better to hang out with the “wrong” sort of Christians, than with pagan perverts.
Agreed. Even families who were not Christian, such as Jewish families and atheists, joined the Protestant homeschool groups. However, some Protestants agree with the Democrats. Luckily, homeschool world works like the free market: If we didn’t agree with a group, we could take our children and our money to another group. With public school, we’re all stuck paying for it, even if we don’t agree with it, even if we don’t send our kids.
