CLAIM: White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed Tuesday that grocery prices went down under President Joe Biden’s leadership.
VERDICT: False.
“Food prices jumped 6.3% in 2021, and 10.4% in 2022. In 2023, food-price increases slowed, with the index up 2.7%,” TheStreet reported.
To put that in perspective, Yahoo News reported that “a basket of groceries that cost $100 in November 2020 would now set you back $125.80.”
Prices continue to rise despite the slowing rate of inflation.

They say a basket of groceries that cost 100 dollars a year ago will cost 125 now. That is absolute bull crap groceries have doubled and more in the last year. They are probably pricing impossible burger and almond milk. We buy beef and cow milk. While milk hasn’t quite doubled, meat most certainly has.
I took the 4 grandkids to McDonalds last week. Grandma and I, and 4 kids (4, 6, 10 and 14). Nothing extravagant, nothing more than what everyone would eat.
$72 for 1 meal at McDonalds. Let’s Go Brandon.

Bottle of store-brand orange-pineapple juice that used to be $2.69 (in 2020) is now $3.69, up 37%. That’s at my local grocery store.
I noticed a couple of weeks ago that Walmart Great Value brand of frozen pizza jumped another 50-cents.
It was around $3.98, last year jumped to $4.44 and now $4.97.
