West provoked Ukraine war, Nigel Farage says

Nigel Farage has said the West "provoked" Russia's invasion of Ukraine by expanding the European Union and Nato military alliance eastwards.

But he added that the expansion of the EU and Nato gave him a "reason" to tell the Russian people "they're coming for us again".

In an interview with the BBC's Nick Robinson, Mr Farage was challenged over his judgement and past statements, including when he named Russian President Vladimir Putin as the world leader he most admired in 2014.

"I said I disliked him as a person, but admired him as a political operator because he's managed to take control of running Russia," Mr Farage said

Years of aggression by Biden and NATO gave Putin plenty of justification to proactively defend Russia.

The war that Ukraine/US/NATO is waging with Russia could end tomorrow in the same the Hamas war against Israel could end.

Let the hostile aggressors surrender.

“Just because Russia miscalculated...”

Did they. Their standing in the world is GREATLY IMPROVED in all areas other than the US Democrat Party and their slave states. They economy is, by far, performing the best in Europe, just as our military names its ships after pedophiles.

“My point is how could it be that the west wanted to provoke Russia into a war that they all thought Russia would win in a few days?”

Link please.

Who needs a link, you can just read the news. In case you haven't noticed, Putin invaded Ukraine. In 2014, and again in 2022.

I guess NATO expansion didn't happen.

It happened after Putin invaded Ukraine.

Flat Out Lie. The NATO expansion/aggression began in 1994.

“I knew you were a NeverTrump plant”

Yep, gave himself away, since both Trump and Farage are saying EXACTLY THE SAME regarding the root cause of the Ukraine War. Perhaps we should activate our ‘cleaning’ crew?

“We do know though that Russian state finances are a shambles because of the cost of Putin’s war on Ukraine and the effect of sanctions.”

Other than Joe Blog, might you have a VALID LINK supporting that claim?

“We provoked Putin by our abject weakness.”

I think it’s more that we MADE IT EASY for him by TRASHING our military (which was once, long ago, the strongest in the world) with Leftist ideology. We then forced his hand in Ukraine, but with Summer-of-Love rejects thinking that we still posed a credible threat to him. He knows how decrepit our military has become since the Cold War ‘ended’, and so he never feared us.

In fact his biggest hang-up was knowing that liberating Ukraine would mean Europe isolating itself from Russia, probably for generations - he didn’t want that, but the Neocons (infested with Ukrainian expats) sure as hell did want that.

“The globohomo agendist’s are meeting their foil in Putin.”

You have no idea how much that ANGERS the Zeepers. They were absolutely sure that they had full control of their Globohomo social agenda, and then Putin absolutely WRECKS their plans.

“Flat Out Lie. The NATO expansion/aggression began in 1994.”

This is actually a good sign. The Zeepers are now reduced to FLAT-OUT LYING about the past to try to push their points. I doubt that bothers them, but regardless, their effectiveness is virtually nil now, at least on this site.

Not at all. The are policies I like, some I don’t, and some that are simply politically impossible under our laws and government system. Normalizing relations with Putin falls under the last of those.

I get your larger point, which is that wars of choice are rarely popular for long. And temperamentally, I am disinclined to have Americans bleed to try to rearrange the world according to grand purposes and schemes, which was George Bush's folly.

The current fiasco is that we aided Ukraine too weakly to accomplish our purposes. For example, after due warning we could:

(1) Have the US and NATO navies blockade all Russian exports and imports to their European seaports.

(2) We could impose sanctions on Chinese, Indian, and other banks that conduct financial transactions with Russia. Those measures would devastating effects on the Russian economy and financial system.

(3) We could remove restrictions on Ukrainian use of long range missiles on targets deep in Russia unless Russia stopped hitting targets deep in Ukraine and civilian targets of any kind. And:

(4) We could supply the Baltic states and Finland with an abundance of defensive weapons that would make them too tough to attack.

I believe that Trump would threaten Putin with these and similar moves unless he entered into a ceasefire and good faith negotiations. On the whole, I think that Russia would be made to back off and wind down the war.

They would still get what they wanted...isolating Russia...massive rearming of the west and all the money that comes from that...a new cold war...

So, the Neocons™ sought a war in which they thought the Russians would never invade? How does that work?

Well we are going to see if any of that works if Trump gets back in.

We are on to the 14th sanctions package. So what about the first 13 ?

Missile production is just not enough ( 500 missiles per year) to really matter, even if they give it all to Ukraine.

Putin’s dreams of a new Russian Empire are unraveling in Ukraine

It's not just my 'imagination'. Others see what was planned and what is happening.
