Attorney General Merrick Garland this week called for “attacks” against the Justice Department to stop, in a rare op-ed a day before the House voted to hold him in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a congressional subpoena.
Garland said in the piece, which appeared in the Washington Post on Tuesday, that in recent weeks, there have been an “escalation of attacks that go far beyond public scrutiny, criticism, and legitimate and necessary oversight of our work,” and claimed that the attacks are “baseless, personal and dangerous.”
He suggested the attacks were coming from Trump supporters, in response to the recent trial of former President Donald Trump, as well as several other ongoing federal and local government cases against him.

Defund. Dismantle. Do not replace.
Merrick, you will never be on the Supreme Court.
Then start acting like an actual Justice Department rather than a political hit squad.
When one is a lawyer, verbal and written combat nearly every working day is a typical part of the job.
Garland can retire today from battle. Trump will probably have to fight every day he has left on Earth.
“If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.”
Instead of being “above” the law, Merrick Garland needs to be “in front” of a firing squad.
I say attacks from the DOJ against Conservatives must stop.
“ Defund. Dismantle. Do not replace.”
Yeah, I mean, if you can’t vaporize it with bombs, that’s OK.
The stink on Garland is too pervasive for him to try and shoo away the gadflies.
It’s the Department of Justice, not the Department of Political Persecution.
Have Trump’s documents redacted as necessary and return them to Trump. Drop all document charges.
Merrick (that’s a stupid name), what about ATTACKS on Congressional Baseball Games?
Maybe you should quit attacking innocent Americans for political reasons and do your job by enforcing the laws that are already on the books. Nah.... ain’t gonna happen.
Until you are GONE and the DOJ returns to fighting real crime we will criticize all we can.
Merrick Garland will try to do what Heinrich Himmler did, i.e. place a cyanide capsule in the side of his mouth.
It won’t work. He will not escape punishment so easily. The pain is coming and nothing in creating is going to stop it.
Listen you old queen, you answer to the people. Our reps are “the people” (such as they are) your oversite, your boss, and your mommies and daddies. You don’t get to dictate here! This queen needs a budgetary shake down.
Garland is the DOJ head, put there by democrats, to make up for the lifetime position which was denied him by republicans. So, he’s seeking vengeance, and so are democrats, who were also denied the takeover of the Supreme Court.
The DOJ is now the opposite of the Supreme Court, and the opposite of true justice, led by a rabid anti-republican vengeful democrat.
QUOTES
James will be picking up where her predecessors left off. Former AG Eric Schneiderman — who resigned earlier this year amid abuse allegations — and current AG Barbara Underwood have taken more than 200 legal actions against Trump and his administration.
But she also hopes to succeed where they could not: passing a state law that would close the so-called pardon loophole. The change would allow the AG to prosecute those who’ve committed crimes in New York state, even if they’ve received a presidential pardon for federal charges.
James said she’s already discussed the legislation with Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie. And she raised the possibility Trump could vacate the office, and receive a pardon himself.
“If, in fact, Vice President Pence were to pardon President Trump,” she said, “clearly the office of attorney general — when the bill in Albany is passed — we will prosecute the president for crimes committed in New York state.”
