Basically, they were keeping the hostages in couple of residential buildings, constantly moving them and never keeping them all in the same apartment.
Incidentally, is it typical for a lieutenant colonel to be first through the door?

Well done. I recalled Entebbe right away.
According to Israeli media they have known where the hostages were for months but it took the right opportunity to get them out
The vids show these are multi story apartments filled with civilians. BUT we are to believe it is a “refugee camp.”
This is why the primary objective of every hostage rescue mission is KILL ALL THE KIDNAPPERS. As long as one hostage-taker remains alive, the hostages remain in danger. Exterminate them all and the safety of the hostages is assured, and the rest is a cakewalk.
"...Hamas supposedly pays Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip to keep the hostages in their homes, the Times of Israel said, citing the IDF...."
I'd say the price just went up for that job.
If it’s a “refugee camp” it just adds another war crime to the Hamas total. Turning a refugee camp into a compound to detain hostages taken and kept in violation of the laws of war.
Actually, I am having a hard time identifying anything that Hamas does that is not a war crime.
if he was the best man for the job, then yes...
“Incidentally, is it typical for a lieutenant colonel to be first through the door?”
I’m in Israel volunteering for the IDF through https://www.sar-el.org/
At this point, a bunch of us are lightly connected around many parts of the IDF. Word among Sar-El-Niks is that it is usual for the team commander to lead from the front literally, and that the man killed was the leader and first through the door.
This is third or fourth hand information here, but generally believed by the group.
Israeli army practice is for officers to lead their troops into battle, not to send them into danger while waiting in the rear. This is especially so in special forces type units. The result is that the Israeli army is one of the best in the world — and with a high rate of officer deaths in combat.
<>Over 200 Palestinian civilians were killed and over 400 others wounded in the operation, according to the Hamas-linked officials in Gaza, CNN said.<>
Doubtful, but feel-good news nonetheless.
BTW, never forget that FJB NEVER said anything similar to, “The United States will move heaven and earth to rescue our American hostages.”
“’Over 200 Palestinian civilians were killed and over 400 others wounded in the operation, according to the Hamas-linked officials in Gaza’, CNN said.”
It’s a start.
Wow. Stay safe!
The brother of Benjamin Netanyahu was killed at Entebbe.
He was a colonel I believe.
Seventy five years later, the palistinian terrorists are still extorting the world for hostage release. Brother Ben ha min is engaged in a program to kill them off and cease the practice in the future.
Door kickers are an unusual breed. Takes confidence and faith in yourself and your team. A great loss of such a hero.
It would be easier to identify what Hamas does that is not a war crime...
