She was good, spot on. Self-aggrandizement, pretty neat word. And accurate

“her FIRST release record!”

She obviously isn’t letting money or fame drive her decisions. I hope she makes it big.

I hope so too!
So, is that pregnant kitty you were talking about
yesterday, a member of the family now?
*evil grin*

Hi Dolly, back on June 2nd via PM, Cotton said you were going to take over the Birthdays for me and would I please send her my list so she could give it to you. I sent her the list on June 5th. She must have forgot to forward it on to you. I will now send it directly to you via PM.

I rarely get on freerepublic anymore and when I do I just look to see what the Breaking News is. I happened to get on today and saw I had been pinged.

My Catarack surgeries are all done. I can see better as I noticed my youngest daughter has freckles which I hadn’t seen before. :-) My eyes still don’t feel good though because of severe dry eye. Next is seeing an ENT the end of July. I have a very hard time breathing through my nose. Then hopefully I can before the end of the year get carpel tunnel surgery done. My hands go numb driving my car or holding my cell phone.

We are now going into another hot spell. It is 95 degrees today so I am taking it easy.

You, Cotton, and Judy have my phone number so since I am not getting on often if there is someting you want to let me know about or just check up on me, you can message me on messenger. I learned how to delete messages I have read, so now I won’t run out of space.

Hi Spunky!

Nice to “see” you! Nobody can blame you for taking a break....it can be pretty depressing seeing the bad news, day in and day out. I do see some bright spots going on behind the scenes, so it helps me keep plugging along.

How are your water colors going? Have you completed any yet, or still in the learning stages? I’d love to see them if you’ve done any. I think we all would.

That is so cute - you noticed freckles on your daughter lol. How are things going with your daughter that was wanting to move? Is that the youngest? I hope she’s still around....that’s a pretty tough one.

We’ve had a heat wave here for the last 5 days.....accompanied, of course, by the obligatory thunderstorm. Other than that, gardens growing, kids growing, anger at our tyrant in Ottawa growing.....not much else new.

I’m just finishing up another sweater - I did 14 of them this winter lol. My shoulder is a little sore, but I am going to keep going as I have a couple more I want to get done. The thing now is that I am so much in the habit of picking up those needles, I can’t stop lol!

Glad your cataract surgery is done with, and hope the carpel tunnel surgery goes well and then your painting will reach new and exciting heights! Or at lease won’t be painful lol.

Glad you hopped on for a bit - and nice to hear your news.

There’s nothing I can add to this succinct and highly informative essay by my favorite history blog, acknowledged at the end.

New Hampshire ratifies the US Constitution

On this day in history, June 21, 1788, New Hampshire ratifies the US Constitution. The 9th state to do so, this ratification makes the new Constitution the official law of the land, according to its requirement that 9 of the original 12 involved in its creation must ratify it in order for it to take effect. (Rhode Island was not a part of the Constitution’s creation.)

The US Constitution is the longest existing national constitution in the world. Its creation was a history changing event that guaranteed the rights of the average person against arbitrary and tyrannical government. Its adoption is arguably one of the greatest events in human history. Nations around the world have sought to emulate its principles ever since its adoption.

The United States Constitution enshrines the rights of the people by limiting the powers of the federal government. It guarantees people the right to self-rule in their local states with only certain powers granted to the federal government. The Constitution defines the basic structure of the United States government, which is a lawmaking body (the legislature) elected by the citizens of the states, an executive (the President) charged with carrying out those laws and a judiciary (the Supreme Court and other federal courts) to decide cases of conflict.

The Constitution also guarantees sweeping rights to the people, such as freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, the right to bear arms, the right to trial by jury, limitations on government powers, freedom from cruel and unusual punishments and many more.

The Constitution relies on several key doctrines such as “consent of the governed,” “separation of powers,” the idea that all men have the right to “life, liberty and property,” that it is government’s role to protect these rights, and the idea that government does not create or grant rights, but that these rights are granted to individuals by nature by virtue of their being human.

The Constitution was originally written as a remedy for the weaknesses in the Articles of Confederation, America’s first governing document. The Articles had not created a strong enough central government to sustain and perpetuate itself. Many voices called for revising the Articles. The Constitutional Convention met in Philadelphia from May through September of 1787 to draft the new document. The Constitution was then passed to the thirteen states. Each state held its own Constitutional convention to decide whether or not to ratify. The document required that 9 states ratify it in order for it to become law.

New Hampshire was the 9th state to vote in the affirmative on June 21, 1788, making the Constitution law for those states which had accepted it. Eleven of the original thirteen colonies had ratified it by July of that year and the new government formally started on March 4, 1789. By May of 1790, the final two holdouts, North Carolina and Rhode Island ratified the Constitution, making one new nation of the thirteen colonies which rebelled against Great Britain in the American Revolution.

Thank you so much, exit!
I have read each and every one of your histories, and enjoyed them immensely!

If only more people from every country would read about what our ancestors fought and died for, they would understand why we will NOT GIVE UP our nation, and her people!

I read a poem right around the time we were in the PGR-
It read something like this:

“Lest I maintain my complacent ways,
I MUST remember
Someone died for me today!

A long as there is war-
I must ask, and I must answer..
Was I worth dying for?”

Hey! I finally found it!

“Lest I keep my complacent way I must remember somewhere out there a person died for me today. As long as there must be war, I ask and I must answer was I worth dying for?” ― Eleanor Roosevelt

“So, is that pregnant kitty you were talking about

I waited all day, I was going to take her to the walk-in vet and get her checked for leukemia and have her eye looked at. But the lady never got back to me. I hope that means she decided to keep her, and not that they just “got rid” of her. Some people here are absolutely horrible excuses for human beings.

That’s great you can see again! And even see freckles.

I thought I did pass on the list, pretty sure I did although I don’t know if it was through freepmail or regular mail.

I hope your carpal tunnel isn’t affecting your painting. It’s awful when something you enjoy causes pain.

“Other programs listed included payments to Jews from the Holocaust and Japanese who were put into internment camps during World War II.”

Why are we paying for Holocaust victims? We had nothing to do with it. Other than freeing them from the camps.

Thanks for all your interesting posts and links today.
