An unusual exchange of fire occured this morning (Monday) between IDF forces and soldiers of the Egyptian army in the Rafah Crossing area. During the incident, an Egyptian soldier was killed and several others were injured. There were no casualties among the IDF forces.
Israeli officials stated that the incident began when an Egyptian soldier opened fire at IDF troops, who then returned fire.
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated, "A few hours ago (Monday), a shooting incident occurred on the Egyptian border. The incident is under review and discussions are being held with the Egyptians."

I support Israel 100%, but IDF is blasting away at everything they see. This isn’t this first “friendly fire” incident.
They bagged two big cheeses. The civilian casualties are per Gaza Health Department, so must be examined to discover the truth. Shootout with Egypt is very, very bad news.
The Egyptian soldier may have supported the Muslim Brotherhood. That political party is now banned in Egypt.
Sorry, but if shot at one shoots back. The Egyptian played a stupid game and won a stupid prize.
Egypt knows Israel has no designs its territory or military.
If the Egyptians fired on the Israelis, this was a reasoned response.
Exactly!
The Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas supporting Egyptian soldier won the Darwin award.
For those who don’t realize how late the hour is and who will support Israel in these wars, look no further than Zechariah 14.
Zechariah 14 says “All Nations”.
Sobering thought.
Egyptian troops opened fire on Israeli troops. Returning fire is not a friendly fire incident.
Israeli-Egyptian coexistence was the one single accomplishment of the Carter administration. Biden can’t even hold that together.

Blessed are those who F’ Around, for they shall Find Out.
It’s not about Biden or Carter. The Egyptians wanted to do something to Israelis to save face, because of the goings on in Rafeh. They would have been content to lob a few pot shots at IDF. An Egyptian soldier killed, now, that changes everything. That’s my reading of the situation. And it’s very very bad.
This may be little more than a worked up rogue starting an incident, and a
couple of his fellow cohorts caught up in the action.
It could well turn out to be a nothing burger, if Egypt asses it that way.
I don’t see Egypt being worked up against Israel in recent years. I think
they’ll work it out amicably.
“The incident is under review and DISCUSSIONS are being held with the Egyptians.”
Image that, having DISCUSSIONS with one’s opponent, maybe even leading to ADULTS settling things peacefully. Someone needs to give that idea to the Neocons.
“It could well turn out to be a nothing burger, if Egypt asses it that way.”
Sounds a bit kinky to me but maybe that’s their thing nowadays.
Well... In a sense it was a ‘friendly’ reminder to not fire on IDF troops. The consequences are obviously deadly.
I think that is b#llsh!t.
This sounds like one of those police reports where we learn a regular citizen was killed by cops, and the cop says the citizen pointed a gun at the cop, or made a “furtive move”, or tried to run down the cop or whatever, then video turns up that shows the cop lied.
In these situations, I ask myself “Does this make sense?” Why would an Egyptian soldier take ineffective pot shots at an armed IDF group, while being exposed to fatal return fire?
I just plain don’t believe it.
Yeah, I’m pretty good at word mistakes at times.
