Did Biden's Love for Hamas Just Lose Him the Jewish Vote?
PJ Media ^ | 05/10/2024 | Stephen Green

Posted on 05/10/2024 8:11:36 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Bret Stephens warned his New York Times readers on Friday that Presidentish Joe Biden "just made his biggest blunder" when he paused delivery of more than 3,000 much-needed aerial bombs to Israel this week. Stephens is the NYT's Conservativish™ writer, so he must drag his readers to the truth like a dog on a leash when he figures out you're taking him to the vet.

That's why Stephens has to include phrases like Biden's "laudable motive" and to remind readers that the absolute worst part is that the suspension is "a political gift to Donald Trump." But the truth is still buried in there like the proverbial haystack needle — and maybe this is the moment that American Jews, in numbers great enough to matter, take notice of their party's callous disregard for them.

A fine example of just that is White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby, who said on Thursday, "It's going to take a little bit of moral courage on both sides to finally be able to come across that table and ink this deal." Moral courage from Hamas! Kirby, you'll recall, was brought into the White House to be the grownup in the comms department.

And, yes, at least a few Jews seem to be taking notice.

The Dispatch's Jonah Goldberg — whom I like personally, find engaging as a critic of Leftism, but who pretty much swims in a sea of NeverTrumpers — had this to say on Twitter/X shortly after the arms suspension was revealed: "I’ve heard from a LOT of reliably anti-Trump people - I mean really, really, anti-Trump people - who have had it with Biden tonight. Anecdotal, to be sure. But very telling in my circle."

>> No, Jews will overwhelmingly vote democrat.

I doubt many Jews will vote for President Trump as a result of FJB betraying Israel.

But I bet Kennedy (and “no vote”) pick up some votes from them.

Every formerly reliable ‘Rat vote that isn’t cast for Biden accrues to Trump’s benefit.

Biden got 68% of Jewish vote in 2020. He will lose some of that, but I’d guess they’ll mostly vote for Kennedy.

I’d guess 15% already vote conservative, and another 20% are persuadable. Some of these have finally been persuaded.

“...15% already vote conservative, and another 20% are persuadable...”

You are always the optimist; me, not so much on this topic.

No. The Jewish people who vote for Biden are already liberals. They will vote for Biden regardless. The Jews vote Republican. Unfortunately there are more Jewish people out there than Jews.

And yes, there is a major difference.

The only battleground states with a Jewish population over 1% are Pennsylvania (3.3%), Nevada (2.6%), and Georgia (1.3%). The Jewish population in Michigan is only 0.9%. This explains the Biden calculus.

No, Jews will still vote 75-25 Dem. They are the Dems second most loyal constituency. Given their concentration in a few states, any defections will be of minimum consequence. Dems still win NY, CA, NJ, PA, MD, IL, and MA, and lose Florida

We support Israel because they’re in the right.

Because Hamas is evil.

Because their people were slaughtered in a fashion only done by monsters.

This isn’t about ‘getting the Jewish vote’ - it’s about doing what’s just and decent and right.

(Besides, there aren’t enough Jewish votes to effect a national election so let’s get behind Israel for the right reasons - get them the weapons they need and forget about trying to make liberals become conservatives)

I agree.
It might cost him a few. But, not enough to matter or even measure. American Jews religion is liberalism not Judaism.

No, Even when the Two-State fantasy leads to the end of Israel, and Jews must be evacuated from the land to the USA, They will always vote Democrat. It’s in their DNA.

Probably not. We know several that think branDUHn is doing just fine. Likely they’d get on the train for the free vacation too.

I’m pretty sure most Jews care more about abortions for all than standing up for Israel. Or about trans-rights than Israel’s existence.

I’m pretty sure you don’t know many religious Jews. It is God who puts the call of love for Israel in Jewish (and Gentile) hearts, as well as love for their offspring, male and female.

I agree.

Romney got 30%. Trump got 30%. The last time a Republican got more than 30% was in 1988 when Bush got 35%.

Total waste of time, chasing the Jewish Diaspora vote in America. They’re just not going to vote Republican.
