I was on the tarmac with my scout troop when the first F-14 landed at Miramar with the Secretary of the Navy in the RIO seat. My 2nd home was in Mira Mesa...one mile north of the runway at Miramar. Front row seats for Top Gun training and a short bike ride to the annual air show. When the Navy passed the facility to the Marines, the air traffic changed. Lots of very noisy helicopters and F/A-18 jets. Much noisier than the F-14s.

Howdy, Kathy.
Pushing 50??? Wow! Here’s hoping that kind of weather sticks around! NO MORE COLD AND SNOW! Most of the ground around the airports is snow-free now and the ice on Lake Hood is thinning. Along the shore, it starting to look like slush. Not long before break-up and that’s always amazing to see.
It was clear today, for a change, and just a little breeze. Made it up to 65 this afternoon after a low in the 30s. Clouds will come back tomorrow with rain overnight into Wednesday.

Hey there, radu!
Yes it was much nicer here, too. Got up to 76...but pretty breezy...and it’s now 69. I’d go sit on the patio but for the wind.
The moon is almost full and looking gorgeous!
I’m glad it was warmer there. I know you’re ready for some spring before summer hits with a vengeance!
