Pro-life conservatives are 'disappointed' in Trump's new abortion policy, but stick by him: 'only one option'

Conservative groups backing former president Donald Trump in his re-election bid say they are "deeply disappointed" with his official position on abortion unveiled Monday, but it won't deter their support in November.

The former president and presumptive GOP nominee in a video posted on Truth Social Monday morning said he cemented his position on the controversial issue, saying that abortion access should be a states’ issue and didn’t endorse a national, federal limitation – like a 15-week ban.

Pro-life interest groups who have endorsed Trump expressed disappointment at his announcement, but it appears unlikely to sway their support in consideration of Trump’s overall stance compared to Biden’s extreme abortion policy.

"The reality of a stark choice between President Biden who supports abortion: any number, any reason, up until birth, all paid for by the taxpayer and President Trump: who gave us three Constitutionalist justices, 220 lower court judges, appointees who support life and the overturn of Roe v. Wade has my endorsement and support in November for President," said Penny Nance, CEO of Concerned Women for America (CWA), who said she "favors federal limits on abortion."

nevertrumpers would push Trump to have a federal ban on abortions...

because they know it would definiately cause him to lose the re-election.

Exactly

Here’s Frank Pavonne a ntional leaders in the pro life movement and he says the same thing: “Trump has been, and will be again, the most pro-life president our country has seen”

TITUSVILLE, FL - Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone today thanked President Donald Trump for his statement on abortion released on his Truth Social account.

“As I said in my remarks recently at Mar-a-Lago, Donald J. Trump has been, and will be again, the most pro-life president our country has seen. He has not wavered on any of the pro-life positions or executive actions he has taken (including depriving the abortion industry of federal funds), or judges he has appointed, and we will again see such progress in a second term.

“President Trump is rightly proud of his role in the reversal of Roe v. Wade. Roe blocked the American people from protecting the unborn. Now, we can protect them again, and are doing so.

“By invoking ‘the will of the people,’ President Trump is pointing to the fact that courts are not here to impose a dogma of abortion-on-demand. Rather, the courts should step out of the way so that the people can have an open and honest debate about abortion. That’s what we will continue to do.

“President Trump’s announcement of the abortion policy he would pursue as president calls to mind the drafting of the U.S. Constitution at a time when slavery was still legal,” Pavone said. “The Founders understood that they could not get the Constitution ratified if it contained an absolute anti-slavery position. They needed to get the nation started.

“But with the Constitution they did adopt, they put in place the very mechanism by which slavery was in fact ultimately abolished.

“President Trump is taking a similar stance. We have to save the nation by winning this election. Right now we have a nation divided on abortion. But by saving the nation itself from destruction by the Democrats – by saving the Constitution, free and fair elections, freedom of speech and religion, and by stopping the extremism of the Democrats on abortion — we will in fact preserve the very mechanism by which we can continue to build a culture of life.

“I thank the President for his statement but I don’t expect him to do my job; I expect him to do his. My job and the job of the pro-life movement is to lay out the moral absolute of the right to life, which does not admit of compromise. Pro-life leaders, meeting recently for strategic planning, issued this joint statement that reflects the pro-life work that needs to be done in the next seven months.

“We look forward to continuing to work together with President Trump and countless citizens to leading our nation to ever greater fidelity to its founding principle that governments are instituted precisely to preserve the unalienable right to life.”

Blessings,

. I am upset that Trump waffled on Abortion allowing it for the first 15 weeks.

False; he did not allow it; are you waffling and allowing women to kill their babies up to 15 weeks ?

He has done enough on the issue to prove himself. If you really care about babies, blame their mothers. If you want to force them to give life instead of death, elect a Congress which would pass those laws. You cannot do that because American women want the option to kill babies they don’t want and they vote more.

Its a state issue. It is not a Trump issue. Please do not act as stupidly as the hysterical rabid democrats. Let people vote their conscience.

IMHO, if you want to get people's attention, have hundreds and hundreds of truckloads of artificial (rubber) baby parts dumped in front lawmakers’ Capitol buildings all on the same day. Make ProChoice people cleanup the fake baby parts up to force them to understand their acts of “fetus termination”.

Not necessarily.

What the Court said was that state abortion bans do not violate the Constitution and the Court was wrong to take that decision away from the states. It technically did not decide whether a federal abortion ban would be constitutional. That’s actually an open question under existing precedent. It could be argued either way. Yes, as a matter of originalism, it probably should be left to the states, but there’s a lot of things that should be and the issue is whether the Court will go back to that state/federal balance with everything which would be a huge chance in the law. If it doesn’t, then I can’t really shed a tear if a national abortion ban passes (it wouldn’t pass anyway, but hypothetically...)

This isn’t about what you want-it is about states rights/constitutional rights-that means everybody. You can’t legislate morality-that only comes from religion and education-MLK said that, and it is true. All of us who are Christian pray for those gone astray, as we should-but I’m not God and neither are you...

States’ rights IS the Constitutional position, and therefore IS the Conservative position.

Here’s the deal with the Trump fanboys. If he makes a decision they love... then its Trump!!! If he makes a decision they hate... then its his advisors. The man himself can do no wrong.

I’m not upset at all. He’s following the Constitution and Federalism. It’s up to the states.

He gave it to the States, as it should be. By doing it this way he took a tooth out of the Democrat’s mouth. If they bring it up during the campaign, they will look like a bunch of killers. And that will be recognized.

But on the issue alone, I don’t think it is the Federal Government’s business to ban it because it isn’t clearly delineated in the Constitution as its business.

But it is. Does the unborn have a right to due process? That is a question that needs to be answered. That is a Constitutional question.

Someone should set up a scenario where an unborn person retains a lawyer to protect their rights.

Wow, the hatred for conservatives here is amazing. And I see4 through your deception.

When Ronald Reagan was in is first months as governor, some adviser told him to sign a law. Unfortunately, he did sign it, and only learned about this issue later. But as soon as he learned about it, he was always 100% pro-life.

In fact, he wrote a book in 1983, called Abortion and the Conscience of the Nation, and he talked about signing that bill, which was always the ONLY mistake he ever mentioned in his political career.

He spoke about abortion at the 1986 State of the Union address, which I don't think any president has done since. You are being deceptive, he didn't make any secret of what happened, but he was by far the most pro-life president we've ever had.

When Trump was going to run Reform in 2000, he was strongly pro-choice.

“My first reaction was his Spiritual advisors failed him or he didn’t listen to them. At any rate could be a nail to America’s coffin. God will not be mocked.”

It’s really sad how many people here are so enamored of a human that they ignore God’s Word.

Saying Trump did less than what Scripture requires is not saying to vote for Joe Biden.

But their slavish adoration of man causes them to miss your very important point.

I voted for RR-twice-and glad of it. This is NOT RR’s America any more, like it or not-Marxist liberals have taken the democrat party, and we need to keep pushing our constitutional rights, non-stop so they are not lost...

Trump had nothing, nada, "0" to do with Roe v Wade.

And he's taking the right road....as a President supporting the USSC decision AND States Rights.

Spoken like a true atheist libertarian. And of course a cite to the communist MLK.

It’s so sickening to see a conservative forum filled with people attacking conservatives. I feel like I’m posting on DU nowadays. The hatred for conservatives is breathtaking.

The Republican party is not a personality cult and we have the First Amendment right to have our speech heard rather than being canceled for trying to protect babies.
