Pro-life conservatives are 'disappointed' in Trump's new abortion policy, but stick by him: 'only one option'

Conservative groups backing former president Donald Trump in his re-election bid say they are "deeply disappointed" with his official position on abortion unveiled Monday, but it won't deter their support in November.

The former president and presumptive GOP nominee in a video posted on Truth Social Monday morning said he cemented his position on the controversial issue, saying that abortion access should be a states’ issue and didn’t endorse a national, federal limitation – like a 15-week ban.

Pro-life interest groups who have endorsed Trump expressed disappointment at his announcement, but it appears unlikely to sway their support in consideration of Trump’s overall stance compared to Biden’s extreme abortion policy.

"The reality of a stark choice between President Biden who supports abortion: any number, any reason, up until birth, all paid for by the taxpayer and President Trump: who gave us three Constitutionalist justices, 220 lower court judges, appointees who support life and the overturn of Roe v. Wade has my endorsement and support in November for President," said Penny Nance, CEO of Concerned Women for America (CWA), who said she "favors federal limits on abortion."

Trump's GOPE advisers have once again got him going for the left.

He's demoralizing millions of pro-life Americans by refusing to take a stand. He refused to say what limits he supports, which means he would be fine with none if that's what the voters chose.

The alternative is NARAL Joe Biden of course which is unacceptable.

I don’t think it’s his advisers.

Trump killed Roe v. Wade. Pro-lifers will forever be grateful to him for that.

Given the position of his opponents RFK, Jr. and Biden -- I can vote for Trump with a clear conscience in 2024.

2028 will be another matter. We'll need an avowedly pro-life platform at that time.

I’m amazed I still have a job-—I’ve been working here 36 years and business is “flat out” dead!! Been this way for about a year——2017-2021 were the best years I ever had.....I will be voting for Trump because this guy is a freaking disaster!

You mean when Trump demolished Roe v Wade?

President Trump got it right......
<><>The USSC itself ruled via Dobbs
<><>the Constitution doesn’t give rights to the federal govt to intervene in the decision;
<><>that’s already been left to the states.

It’s exactly Ronald Reagan’s policy.

?? This was always Trump’s position. He never backed a national ban and always indicated this was a Tenth Amendment matter.

Going left? Saying lets the states decide isn’t going left. Going left would be be a federal law mandating abortion on demand until birth..

Nonsensical spin.

There will not be a federal abortion ban, there isn’t the support for it to happen, as much as some may want it, it’s not going to happen

What pro life conservative groups? As far as I can tell, Fox only sited one. The writer would get an F in journalism school, but an A in opinion school.

Only Faux News could act like this was something new.

I don’t get the 15 week thing. Roe was 12.

Even after 15 don’t the states decide? Again, Roe was 12 weeks.

I’m afraid you’re right. Trump has always been very weak on the life issue.

Art 1 Sec 8 is a short list. It is up to the States to decide how much murder they will allow.

I don’t like it... but it IS the correct answer if we want to pretend we are a Constitutionally limited Republic.

Trump refused to say where he would draw the line. That is either cowardice or he agrees with the pro aborts

Reagan said he wanted to ban it at the state level. Trump REFUSED to say where he would support it. Does he support Florida’s 6-week ban? He won’t say. Does he go for 15 weeks? He won’t say.

The one thing I could see a conservative President doing would be to ensure that no Federal tax monies went to abortion groups and/or providers.

If it isn’t the Federal job to allow it or criminalize it, then it shouldn’t be the Feds job to fund it either.

Then why are there no actual pro-lifers against Trump?

It’s because they know he’s pro-life because he slit the throat of the abortion industry.

They think they’re still viable, but the abortion industry is slowly bleeding to death.
