Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) broke with former President Trump on Monday over Trump’s decision to back away from endorsing a national 15-week abortion ban, declaring that leaving the issue entirely to the states “runs contrary to an American consensus that would limit late-term abortions.”
“I respectfully disagree with President Trump’s statement that abortion is a states’ rights issue,” he said in a statement responding to Trump.
Trump on Monday reversed course on his plan to support a 15-week or 16-week national abortion ban amid pushback from top Republicans, who warned it would put the issue of abortion rights at the forefront of the 2024 campaign and hurt their chances to taking back the White House and the Senate majority.
Graham, however, argued that “the pro-life movement has always been about the wellbeing of the unborn child — not geography.”

Yes, and he is coming out with a ban to try and appear to be conservative but he knows the issue is going to cause Republicans to lose if he takes this stance.
IF the election wasn’t stolen, then it was lost because lindsay intentionally threw the last election by claiming that the GOP would instate a national ban on abortions for all reasons- He knew darn well what he was doing- eityher way- he and the left worked to secure the election for biden-
CDC 2021 abortion stats show that 93+% of abortions occur @ <13 weeks.
Perhaps a “15 week ban” is a strategy of incrementalism in action; or perhaps it’s just political smoke and mirrors. But by itself, it does next to nothing to reduce abortions.
Graham...The Court has spoken. We’re talking “murder” of an innocent. You condone this??
Agreed, and yet he apparently won’t ever be replaced until he quits/retires.
So moving forward, how to best limit the damage he causes by his anti-Republican behavior?
BTW, have any US Congressmen ever publicly admitted that they were being blackmailed? Or is the process so smooth and perfected that the blackmailers have also frightened their targets into never publicly speaking out against what is happening?
I was hoping Trump would take that position, because the president, now, as no say in the matter unless Congress passes some kind of law. No use in borrowing trouble.
The networks will play his comments as evidence the GOP wants to ban abortion and take America to the 19th century. Result - a Biden landslide of 400 EVs.
Trump needs to tell Linda to go away and STHU for good.
People, Deep State is ginning up games of lets-you-and-him-fight.
Stop playing.
We need to be one issue voters.
First we restore the republic.
We can worry about the rest later.
I am EXTREMELY glad DJT left it to the states, where it should be, and did not try to do a national ban or, even worse, a national cap on killing babies up to a certain point.
People’s hearts need to change where they do not embrace death, but life.
I don’t know why anyone is complaining about this here on FR. Graham actually makes Trump look like a more reasonable candidate.
Wishy-washy Lindsey
My understanding is that if they admit anything, it will mean prison. So, you are not likely going to get an admission from any of them, which is unfortunate.
I agree with Trump.
This is a state issue.
The Federal government needs to stop interfering with everyone.
Tenth Amendment.
What next Linda, cutting Medicare and Social Security to fund the Ukrainian war?
The networks will play his comments as evidence the GOP wants to ban abortion and take America to the 19th century. Result - a Biden landslide of 400 EVs.
And women will AGAIN, put biden back into the white house.
Its a rigged game.
You also disagree with SCOTUS, Binky.
Which is correct interpretation of our Constitution.
I’m constantly hearing my liberal friends tar all of conservatives with the extremism of this idiot. None of them listen to Trump. They listen to liberal sources saying what Trump supposedly said. We need to repeat “State Rights!” over and over whenever the topic is raised and refuse to go further into this briar patch.
Graham doesnt know what he’s talking about. President Trump got it right......
<><>The USSC itself ruled via Dobbs
<><>the Constitution doesn’t give rights to the federal govt to intervene in the decision;
<><>that’s already been left to the states.
