The IDF on Sunday announced that it had concluded the active invasion stage of the war for now while leaving open the possibility of a future new invasion of Rafah in deep southern Gaza.
Although a top IDF official said that this change had nothing to do with US pressure, the timing was unmistakable in coming right after the IDF’s disastrous mistaken killing of seven humanitarian aid workers last week.
Critically, this means that Palestinians can, on one hand, move freely within southern Gaza and Khan Yunis and that there is a complete vacuum for preventing a return of Hamas governance, but the IDF is keeping northern and central Gaza cut off from the south.
Hamas immediately declared the IDF withdrawal, even partial, a victory for sticking to its position of demanding IDF withdrawals, including of troops in northern Gaza.
The world’s attention will likely now shift to whether the IDF will invade Rafah first, whether Hamas will cut a deal for the hostages to avoid such an invasion, or whether Israel will concede further to Hamas’s demands for returning more Palestinians to northern Gaza.

Are you telling us Hamas is now completely destroyed? That was the only successful end to this according Netanyahu. 32,000 dead civilians was the sacrifice to be paid to never have to deal with Hamas again. The brutal incursion into Gaza has been an unmitigated failure for Israel. Hamas is stronger today than on 10/7. Sure, some fighters have been killed and some equipment lost but Hamas’ viability has been ensured for the next two generations. The citizens of Gaza despise (for very good reason) the Israelis more than ever. Israel has lost most of the support it had in the world prior to 10/7. Israel can indiscriminately kill civilians as well as anyone but can’t defeat a bunch of ill equipped, ill trained irregular fighters. What a CF from day one.
The IDF is preparing for a ground maneuver into Rafah, per Amir Tsarfarti.
Yes.. the silent finish will make Hamas long for the noisy military war.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I bet every nook and cranny in RAFA has been mapped.I bet also that RAFA now is laced with paid informants whose families are recruited, with the women and children now living safely in Israel, extended families ready to continuously report intel to Mossad about Hamas operations.
Hamas is going down.
“Tribes with flags” as I’ve read that encapsulated sometimes. You’ve enlightened my understanding of the situation much further. Many thanks!
The 7 was a line for Biden....unlike OUR 13 in Afghanistan.
It means that the topmost Hamas leadership has escaped from Gaza.
It means that there will be no release of hostages that are still imprisoned in the tunnel labyrinth.
I believe you are correct. The IDF withdrawing has the same effect as the tide at the beach suddenly receding far farther than anybody has seen. It will draw ham ass out into the open, like curious beachcombers collecting sea shells, right before the tsunami hits.
If you look at lots of videos, you can see that large areas og Gaza have been turned into dirt.
And the cycle continues. Expect more attacks by an emboldened HamAss and endless responses by Israel. 🇮🇱
Serious error! Gaza hasn't been completely razed with the bonses of their enemies ground in their tank tracks.
Ever think that maybe Netanyahu realizes he can’t beat Hamas and that the world will not sit by and allow the genocide to be completed? Perhaps Bibi realizes he’s bitten off more than he can chew and is trying to cut a deal before he has to deal with Hezbollah, Iran and Mr. Backstab, Joe Biden at the same time.
IMHO, if that happens, the Israelis just may enlighten the goat boys in Tehran with “the light of a thousand suns”..
The same way in a normal, sane country the USA would do what's best for the USA and screw whatever the rest of the world thinks, Israel should do what's best for Israel and screw whatever the dementia addled pResident in the White House thinks.
This is a seriously grave error on the part of Netanyahu. There can be no lasting peace with the so-called "palestinians" until every single member of hamas and their families, are dead.
No. After all, TROP is not in Star Trek..
We may never know the actual why. World opinion? Bibi facing no confidence from his coalition cabinet? Team Biden pressure to undermine Bibi? Diminishing military returns in Gaza? Need to turn attention to Iran? All of the above? Something else. The downside for America is that the stand down gives Team Biden a victory lap as a peacemaker enhancing his election chances.
Draw them out.
Offer the olive branch, see if they return hostages.
Make the world see you tried.
Let them dance with victory and parade like ISIS did.
Let them be seen by the world celebrating murder, kidnapping, rape in the eyes of the world. So know one will doubt
Then close the door real hard, in an display that the world won’t forget.
Bull Shit
There has never been any genocide. There is and will continue to be Hamascide.
The Hamas leaders in Qatar should be hiding and never show themselves out of their bunkers.
It’s a tactical pause and not the first one.
But of the cities of these people, which the Lord thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth: But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee: That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the Lord your God. (Deuteronomy 20:16-18)

Jeez, are you actually gullible enough to believe all the “information” put out by the Gazan “authorities”?
