Cops had to shut down a Versace sample sale in Chelsea on Wednesday after more than 1,000 deal-savvy shoppers flocked to the store, with fights breaking out before shoppers could even get their hands on the discounted designer labels.
Videos shared on social media captured the chaotic scene unfolding just after 9 a.m. at 125 W. 18th St. as thousands of shoppers crowded the sidewalks — some having waited in line for hours — only for a fight to cause the sale to be shut down by police just before noon, the NYPD told The Post.
Within hours, the store’s security had to enlist the NYPD’s help to control the crowd.
The event was temporarily shut down and later reopened. No arrests were made, police said.
Videos of the massive crowd and images of shoppers looking to purchase pieces by the famed designer being escorted away by police flooded social media early Wednesday.
*** Many New Yorkers took to X to express their disbelief over the silly skirmish.
“Some people will sacrifice necessities, just to have the ‘right’ labels on. Smh,” one person wrote.
“The NYC Versace sample sale ending in 35 minutes bc y’all don’t know how to act is wild,” another chimed in.
“Rushing the door for a Versace sample sale is egregious behavior lmao,” another person said. ***

That’s life in the VFW section of Manhattan. Very Few Whites.
I didn’t know that New York is 95% black.
I didn’t know that New York is 95% black.
Yes, along with Quakers & Amish. 🙂 The streets were also lined with horse-drawn buggies.
Wednsday morning at 9AM. For a clothing tag. No one had to work I guess.
I noticed. Looks like if your female and obese, you got a job in NY!
I manage a self storage. A couple years ago I was helping a tenant move his stuff out of a small unit (the elevator was not working and I felt obligated to help him). Almost EVERYTHING in that unit was Nike shoes, and EXPENSIVE ones, still in the boxes. He was also always well dressed in the latest whatever Reebok style track outfits, with LOTS of gold chains. Whatever. I’m a woman and I have maybe 4 pairs of shoes. I could care less about that crap. Much to my husbands delight. Now... if I see a really cool guitar, that’s different. ;)

That guy might actually have a plan. There is a market for never worn retro shoes.
If he’s not impulsive, he can make a decent return.
easier to block the sidewalk.
Bookstores are safe, lol.
Since eBay
So am I, in general. But in all honesty, I like the ones I know personally. They're some of the kindest and gentlest souls you'd ever want to know, although I've observed if they get upset they can go from zero to sixty in about a nanosecond.
That's because they're harder to intimidate or knock around. Have you ever seen any female prison guards?
Lack of impulse control is a huge problem.
I know some that are good guys, but it’s not worth it overall.
I assure you, they are saying things about whitey as well.
That is indeed a big problem, but I think there's an actual racial component to it as well, and it pertains to adaptation to a hot climate.
I agree. Long term planning was more important in a cold climate.
Mental v physical.
That's because they're harder to intimidate or knock around.
I'm sure 6'4" felons and hardened gangsters who've done hard time are scared to death of these 4'10" obese little hoggers. You betcha!
