A federal judge on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit challenging a District of Columbia law allowing “noncitizen residents” to vote in local elections.
Judge Amy Berman Jackson, an appointee of President Barack Obama, found that a group of seven citizen plaintiffs lacked standing to challenge the legislation.
Their lawsuit against the D.C. Board of Elections, filed on March 14, aimed to block the 2022 law passed by the Council of the District of Columbia.
They argued that “noncitizens” do not have a fundamental right to vote in the United States and that allowing them to cast ballots and hold office in the District of Columbia dilutes the votes of U.S. citizens.
“It follows from our national independence that United States citizens have a right to govern, and be governed by, themselves. The constitutional right to citizen self-government, moreover, has been recognized in repeated holdings of the Supreme Court of the United States,” their complaint reads. “Nor does any noncitizen have a constitutional right to govern the United States,” the complaint adds.

Good point. Include “Republicans in that statment as well.
60-million MIVs are cheering wildly for this judgement and at least 20-million of them are already to vote by mail...
Soros & Obamy win!
Berman Jackson did nothing about a jury forema’am who was clearly biased against Trump in the Roger Stone case. DC is not US territory.
SCOTUS sent the case back to the DCA with instructions on procedural matters. The DCA received the returned case and placed a stay on the Texas law pending appellate review. The DCA didn’t overrule SCOTUS, which is clear because SCOTUS hasn’t reasserted its supervision of the matter.
But Texas still can’t enforce SB4 or whatever the number is.
That’s true, because it’s back before the federal appeals court in Texas.
I know, i used to live in the area. Never lived in DC, but Md. & Va. suburbs of DC.

A Republican judge needs to toss the current laws that protect squatters... Democrats judges toss laws they don’t like - we need to do the same.
Hah, let a judge rule that the animal kingdom has the right to vote, and the Green Party will win every time.
