Greetings to all at the Canteen!
To all our military men and women, past and present,
Hi Everybody!
(((HUGS)))
Hi Kathy, thanks for tonight’s Canteen and for remembering and honoring our Troops!
Howdy, Kathy.
On, off, on, off day up there for sunshine. Nice to see it’s above freezing so more melting is occurring.
Is your brain total mush at this point? :-)
Good evening, radu...is the pollen still horrid? Are you stuck inside?
Nice day here so far. Sun on occasion, and lots of dripping.

Unearthed video shows US troops saving Jews from Nazi train
Train with 2,500 prisoners had left Bergen-Belsen concentration camp
It’s the first video of the rescue near Farsleben, Germany in April 1945
Some say they’ve spotted family members in the footage

Hey there, Kathy.
Yes, the pollen is still horrendous and gets worse as time goes on. But that’s part of it and we just blow our noses a lot more. LOL
Nice day here with it reaching 70 for a short time this afternoon. I had a meeting to go to yesterday, had to head out to pay the propane bill today, and have the Republican women’s meeting tomorrow morning. Otherwise, I’ve been staying inside.
I don’t see any dripping on the LH cam because the roofs are snow-free. But the ice and snow on the parking lots are mushy looking and shrinking. Been a lot of thick fog the past two nights.
Howdy, luvie.
Nice day down there today? It was wonderful here, except for the sneezing that ensued while I was out for a short time this afternoon. It’s just too bad I couldn’t open the windows. I like being able to breathe. LOL
Hey there, radu!
It was very nice here, and I went to get the mail a bit ago and the sidewalk is actually wet! I hope it stays wet all night long! LOL!
Sorry ‘bout that breathing thing. I guess pollen will be an issue for a while yet, huh. What a shame you can’t open your windows. How warm did it get there today? It got up to 74 here.
The 743rd Tank Battalion landed in support of the 116th Regimental combat Team at Omaha Beach on D-Day and was decorated with the Presidential Unit Citation for its actions. After refitting, it was transferred to the 30th Division, and fought alongside it during the Normandy campaign, the defence of Mortain against the German panzer counter-offensive, the advance into Belgium and the autumn campaign along the Siegfried Line.
It was part of the force that stopped Kampfgruppe Peiper, the spearhead of the Sixth Panzer Army in the Ardennes.
It took part in Operation Grenade, crossing the Roer in late February, and crossed the Rhine in late March 1945 with an attached DD Tank company from the 736th Tank Battalion. It ended the war in Magdeburg, Germany.
A final meeting: Holocaust survivors, rescuers meet in Hudson Falls - 09/21/2011 - 07/31/2012:
Hudson Falls, NY - In preparing to become soldiers, they were taught many things, most of all how to fight the enemy. But on April 13, 1945, members of the U.S. Army's 30th Infantry Division were caught unprepared.
As they cut across Germany, through cold weather and 18-hour days of fighting, they found a train. Inside were 2,500 Jews who were packed together for six days -- sick, dirty, with little food, and infested with lice, fleas and ticks.
The soldiers, riding Sherman tanks, knew how to fight, but were not prepared to treat so many people or for the shock of the train conditions.
"What we were to witness in those days was something we were not prepared for," said Frank Towers, a first lieutenant in 1945, as World War II was nearing its end.
On Wednesday, Towers, 94, discussed his role with the soldiers who found the train, during the first of a three-day program to teach the Holocaust and reunite the former soldiers with the people they liberated 66 years ago.
Evening, Kathy!
Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...did you and Tippy have a beautiful day for a nice outing?
Good evening, Pro...spring seems to be making a good effort to get here. Fingers crossed the effort continues.
Wow! Where did that rain come from? I haven’t looked at the radar since I woke up today and there was nothing there then. There wasn’t much anywhere and now there is.
It got up to 70 here with just a kiss of a breeze. Very nice day except for the crap in the air. Pollen will be an issue for a long time, though not quite this bad. Spring is always rough. But I still love it.
Watching The Amazing Race and typing during commercials. LOL My two favorite shows.
It’s been cloudy for several hours, but I never thought we’d actually get anything from them. I was pleasantly surprised when I went out. It’s another one of those slow, quiet rains that I love.
70 sounds great. Too bad the pollen messed it up for you getting to actually enjoy it. Our mulberries have just about lost all their fuzzies that have pollen in them, so things are pretty mild for a while. As long as we don’t get a sandstorm any time soon.
