Planet Fitness' valuation has plummeted $400 million in five days after they banned a member who shared a photo of a 'trans woman' using a female locker room.
The company's value dropped from $5.3 billion on March 14 to $4.9 billion on March 19, and its shares are down by 13.59 percent compared to a month ago.
The decline follows Planet Fitness refusing to walk back its decision to ban a member who exposed a 'trans woman' shaving in a female locker room earlier this month.
Patricia Silva was barred after she detailed an incident at her Alaska gym online, where she said she saw a transgender woman in her locker room.
Following backlash against the ban, the company said although some members may feel uncomfortable sharing facilities, 'this discomfort is not a reason to deny access to the transgender member.'
The company's stock fell by 7.8 percent on Tuesday, going from its opening price of $59.44 to a five-month low of $54.80, it then rebounded slightly.
Silva posted a video describing her experience at the gym on Facebook in early March.
She said she had just finished working out at Planet Fitness' Fairbanks location, when she saw the person, whom she called 'a man with a penis,' carrying out his routine in front of a 12-year-old girl.
Silva, who has previously run for Fairbanks Borough Assembly, told the 'trans woman' they should really be using the male locker room.
The trans woman replied that they were 'LGB.'
Silva then took a picture of the person and shared it online and recounted her experience in a Facebook video.

It was his face....but he looks/dresses like man-perp.
If my gym let men dressed up as females into the ladies/girls room, I would (politely of course) inform them of my reasons to leave and never, ever return, and to encourage all by friends and fam to do the same.
Toodles.
Do any of the four reasons I gave you make sense to you?
Just curious ...
Good time to revoke the woke or make them go broke. Their choice, our duty.
And, of course, the lunk alarm is to shame somebody who is actually making a great effort, but drops a heavy dumbbell onto the floor. Yes, let's injure ourselves by gently lowering those 50-lb dumbbells to the floor after wearing ourselves out doing flies on the bench.
Instead of “they,” the grammatically and biologically correct pronoun would be “it.”
“Do any of the four reasons I gave you make sense to you?”
For certain people, I suppose.
I lived in CA for about 10 years. The gym-obsessed people were self-centered intolerable narcissists, and that’s what I think about gyms from my own personal experience. It’s not just the “going to” the gym, it also is the bragging about it: “Look at meeee! Look at meee! I’m going to the GYM!” So ... yes ... for certain people.
When I meet people who are hankering to get their gym fix, I don’t take them seriously. But if that’s what floats their boats, fine; each to his own. I’m sure they don’t take me seriously if they consider what I do, either, and I’m OK with that.
Planet Fitness = the NEW BUD LIGHT.
EXCELLENT!!!
good.
Where is the Bimbo alarm. You know the one that sounds when some silly cow starts taking selfies and recording videos?
The dumbbells stop at 60…
You can be publicly mocked if you grunt.
That said, I never grunt.
It's how I communicate.
Now I want to go to Planet Fitness, and GRUNT LOUDLY while I simply walk.
And it focuses primarily on cardio machines. Like I said it tries to appeal to middle class women seeking to lose weight.
We could hang…
Like I said, it also appeals to beta & omega males.
I can’t imagine anything more useless than women doing half assed cardio to lose weight.
Lol I agree with you there if they aren’t on a strict diet. But PF doesn’t want them to actually lose weight. They want them to think they are doing the right thing to try to lose weight. Weight loss is 70% diet and 30% exercise.
That’s why they have a bagel day and pizza day.
I’m actually a terrible customer.(different gym) I show up all the time and lift “heavy” weights.
Best customer joins Jan 2nd, never comes again…
💯
