It had been almost exactly 24 hours since Nikki Haley lost to Donald Trump in her home state of South Carolina by a 60-40 margin, and supporters who packed a Michigan hotel ballroom encouraged her to continue the fight so she can capitalize on any calamities that befall the frontrunner.
‘I think maybe she’s there in case something happens – she can pick up the pieces,’ said Dale Morgan, a retired chiropractor who came to see Haley after voting for Trump in 2020.

when i lived in Boston in the 70’s i remember a candidate there - Aiello, maybe? - running from the lock-up - i learned a lot about how corrupt politics function when living there.

Agreed. She’s a huge turnoff. Her persona is calculating, strident, and argumentative, and not at all Presidential. I keep coming around in my admittedly depressed imagination to the notion that the ballot will feature Newsome and Haley, neither of whom should be President. In that same depressed perspective, I do see them somehow keeping Trump off the ballot. I don’t claim to know how that will come about, but I do see that the world/our nation just doesn’t follow the norms I’ve lived with all of my 62 years any longer. Anything, literally, seems possible. Hell, I can honestly imagine a Booty Juice/Sam Brinton ticket...
