Some in Florida are out. Not mine. Posting this with my AT&T iPhone.
On the other hand, maybe AT&T is updating its snooping programs.
So do the American alphabets who want to stir up a war.
We had Samsung Galaxy phones that we tried to activate WiFi Calling on in the past, but we couldn’t get them to work. AT&T pretty much gave up trying, telling us we needed new phones. So, a year ago we purchased an iPhone 13 for the both of us *AND* we switched service away from AT&T.
Impossible with the old AT&T network that has been declared obsolete and torn down. A decision Iike many I fear that will someday be regretted.
Well, if it is a foreign cyberattack you can bet the nice folks in DC are busy coming up with a cover story. And AT&T had better play along.

Crazy. Even my local grocery stores are getting closer and closer to mandatory Smart Phones for food sale prices scanned in store.

Yes. When I hired on to Pacific Telephone in 1980, I expected a decent career inside the company. I was part of the huge changes that occurred. Had things remained the same, I might be retired with 40 years. The rapid rise of new technologies and competitors removed the iron clad engineering standards that achieved the 5 sigma reliability. I left Nov 26, 1991 as Pacific Telesis management succumbed to the siren song of fabulous stock prices over competent engineering. I started with my current employer on Dec 6, 1991. No regrets.

I did that in 1976. Over the last couple years, I've been acquiring a variety of antennas that can be rapidly deployed in the field. All of the radios will run off 13.8 VDC battery or power supplies. Radios are all voice/data capable. I also acquired better test instruments including cross needle power/SWR meters, vector network analyzers and antenna analyzers good from 0 to 500 MHz. Some of the equipment is leveraging DSP for data comm that runs on laptop PCs. The HF rigs use SDR and can handle a full range of modulation types AM/FM/USB/LSB/FSK/PSK.
You can find training materials on arrl.org. The two big equipment shops are Ham Radio Outlet and Gigaparts. Accessories are well covered by MFJ. Check Chameleon Antenna and DX Engineering for antenna/feedline supplies. Amazon has access to multiple suppliers as well.
