The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department said eight people were arrested Saturday during a 10-hour "protest and standoff" that stemmed from an Eritrean "cultural event."
Clashes erupted between rival groups of Eritreans, and police confirmed that officers trying to disperse the unlawful crowds were attacked by people wielding sticks, rocks and other items.
Crowds also set a tractor on fire in North Carolina's largest city, and police seized a total of two firearms over the course of several hours.
Fox News Digital reached out to the department Sunday seeking the identities and more information about those eight arrested.
The incident first began shortly after 11:30 a.m. Saturday, when CMPD’s Providence Division responded to "an unlawful protest happening in the parking lot of a business hosting an Eritrean cultural event" on Monroe Road. "Protesters were on private property and were spilling out into the road, which prompted officers to close Monroe Road. Dispersal orders were repeatedly given to protesters throughout the duration of the protest, however they refused to disperse," police said in a press release. "Charlotte Fire and MEDIC responded to assist."

The riot ended after several of the rioters died in a hail of gunfire...
Channeling R Daily.
Future headlines? Maybe not, but then again....
That’s wild! We have Eritreans in my Catholic church in the Charlotte ‘burbs. Charlotte has an unusual concentration of Eritrean Catholics. The ladies come to Mass in ten yards of gauze gowns, and the men in 3-piece suits. It’s hard to picture them rioting.
I hope all of them, both in the primaries and the general election.
Bringing their violent third world ways with them is all they do.
I agree.
Is there are a particular reason why we need concentrations of Eritreans in the United States? In what way does their presence enhance this country? If they are refugees, are there no safe havens for them anywhere between Eritrea and North Carolina?
Let rats and roaches in - get diseases and plagues.
Are Eritreans like rap artists?
For those who don’t grasp it...there are 2 groups of Eritreans. One group is the anti-dictator group, who simply left because of ongoing economic issues and zero trust in the President-for-life character. The other group seems to be all Eritreans with a pro-Eritrea and pro-dictator emphasis. Some people believe the second group has a funding situation leading back to the dictator, and possibly connected up to a drug cartel situation.
If you have Eritreans in your community...you might as well assume there’s trouble brewing.
Same thing just happened in The Hague, Netherlands.
What sort of “Eritrean cultural event” leads to a riot?
Where were the 12” water cannons?
“...there were several people crossing that were from Senegal (W. Africa).”
But Senegal is A Democracy...
Why would they come here?
Eritreans rioted in the Netherlands on Saturday night in The Hague.
This seems to happen every time there is an Eritrean event in a country.
I’ve read of similar incidents in Sweden and Canada.
Different pro and anti-government factions start fighting when one of them holds an event.
lovely
Could not these Eritreans stay home and do this?! Home being Eritrea.
Haile Sellassie ran Ethiopia for decades. He seems like he wasn’t a bad guy. The Eritreans were always fighting, I think they are Moslems. Selassie was Christian, and tried to shut down the open air slave markets that were extant well into the 1960s.
The Communists spent a lot of effort destabilizing the area. “The worse, the better” as is their philosophy.
Unlikely illegal I think, and also unlikely to be on welfare, unless identifying with nor raised in the American black culture. The ones in the city I live in just work. But it seems that others have their own cultural issues as in rival groups:

From Wikipedia:
The sovereign state is a totalitarian one-party dictatorship in which national legislative and presidential elections have never been held since independence. The compulsory military service requires long, indefinite conscription periods (6.5 years on average), which some Eritreans leave the country to avoid. Because all local media is state-owned, Eritrea was also ranked as having the second-least press freedom in the global Press Freedom Index , behind only North Korea
Tens of thousands of people have fled Eritrea for Europe, many alleging they were mistreated by the repressive government of President Isaias Afwerki. The conflicts underscore deep divisions among members of the Eritrean diaspora between those who remain close to the government and those who have fled to live in exile and strongly oppose Isaias. - https://martinplaut.com/2024/02/17/netherlands-another-eritrean-clash-this-time-in-the-hague/
