‘Stop calling’: Over 80 cars towed during Stockton sideshow and sheriff says no one is getting their vehicles back soon [Calif]

(FOX40.COM) — Days after over 80 vehicles were towed during a sideshow in Stockton, San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said that no one will be getting their cars back anytime soon.

“We’re getting a tremendous amount of calls from people wanting their vehicles back,” said San Joaquin County Sheriff Patrick Withrow. “To those people whose vehicle we have in our possession, they can stop calling.”

He added that vehicles deemed to be a public nuisance face the possibility of being destroyed.

Maybe word will get around and these people will stop the dangerous street shows they have been putting on each weekend. They are deadly in addition to causing an inconvenience to other motorists.

I’m completely unfamiliar with the term in any sort of sense that would justify mass impoundment of vehicles and threatening their destruction, so I feel like I’m definitely missing something here...

A side show is when dozens of cars meet at a city intersection and do spin-outs, drag-races, etc. Usually with a car full of teens in and hanging on to the vehicles. I’ve seen videos of them flipping over, teens riding on top falling off, etc. It is a deadly game for them.
