Air Force officials are considering bringing back warrant officers and may start creating a training program this year, reversing a decision from 65 years ago when the service ended that grade, according to a planning document obtained by Military.com.
The three-page planning order says that "great power competition" -- Defense Department lingo for escalating defense spending and resources against adversaries such as China -- is underscoring the need to resurrect warrant officers, the corps of highly technical service members who are above the enlisted ranks but below the commissioned officer ranks.

Other services still have Warrant Officers.
They are usually in command of technical groups.
Some are even Helicopter pilots...................
I believe this doesn’t address the root failure of being anti white.
I’m a USAF veteran. The current USAF, and military in general, is a f’ing clown show. White men can’t be replaced.

I worked with one WO in the AF weather service. But I don’t remember in 1962 what his background was before becoming a forecaster. NCO forecasters trained me after my university courses.

I remember as an NCO in 69, I was offered a chance to be an Army WO. Almost jumped on it until I figured out what they were gonna be used for.
Good move. They were good for the Army, as I remember.

I worked Rawinsonde, the old way.
It’ll probably be a “No whites need alloy” position to further boost DEI scores.
It’s deliberate destruction. Same as bringing in tons of low IQ non whites to the US.
I served with a couple of the remaining CWO’s while in the USAF. We called them “unicorns”.
To retain technical know-how and leadership capabilities, the services created the E8 and E9 ranks. The real problem is that law says an officer must have a college degree. Perhaps that should simply be removed as a barrier for qualified leaders and technical members.
Navy has both Warrants and LDOs (Limited Duty Officers)...I never really saw the need for both as they often seemed to overlap in their activities....at least my experience.
Chairman JCOS had openly stated he was purposely making the USAF less white.
It was a publicly stated goal.
We can’t even make recruiting goals in a country of 340 million people.
This is with lowered standards.
Let that sink in.
I concur with your assessment. I got into it while I was in the USAF almost 50 years ago at a “race relations” forced seminar. I disagreed with the blacks that were teaching the program and because I did they didn’t take it well. I have no doubt it is unbearable these days for a white in the USAF.
Apply, not alloy.
Otto Kerect working behind the scenes again.
I went in 2001. My AFSC had one female and one black.
It required the highest ASVAB scores.
One also had to take the EDPT test.
I don’t recall any problems on base about race though.
To be fair, my interactions with non whites was very minimal.
The people v. their masters.
On active duty I was in a critical AFSC and they wouldn't give me an OTS start date. In the reserves, I walked right into one in the first 30 days. IMO that pathway could have been a WO position.
