Grace Powell was 12 or 13 when she discovered she could be a boy.
Growing up in a relatively conservative community in Grand Rapids, Mich., Powell, like many teenagers, didn’t feel comfortable in her own skin. She was unpopular and frequently bullied. Puberty made everything worse. She suffered from depression and was in and out of therapy.
“I felt so detached from my body, and the way it was developing felt hostile to me,” Powell told me. It was classic gender dysphoria, a feeling of discomfort with your sex.
Reading about transgender people online, Powell believed that the reason she didn’t feel comfortable in her body was that she was in the wrong body. Transitioning seemed like the obvious solution. The narrative she had heard and absorbed was that if you don’t transition, you’ll kill yourself.

What used to be called “going through a phase”
It’s horrifying to me that DOCTORS go along with this. It’s really caused me to question some things about modern medicine.
They’re advocating ruining kids who haven’t even finished physical and mental growth yet. How can kids even know what they are and believe, until they’re grown?
It has to be the most insane of all the insanity we see now.
When I went to high school back in the ‘80s, there was this boy that sometimes wore ribbons in his hair. His good female friend, always said he was gay. I guess after high school, he had a born again experience, and later got married to a woman. I guess recently he died in an accident, but you never know
The article was mostly even-handed, but I guess the author couldn't completely omit attacking the right.
Those who would prefer for people who think they are gender-confused to go through actual psychoanalysis and therapy to discern their true problems are not denying them rights and protection. They are, in fact, protecting the rights of mentally ill people. Those who push a kid who suddenly claims that he/she "identifies" as the opposite gender into "gender-affirming care" are the ones who are trampling on the kid's rights. And those who "transition" young children based on a parent's claim that the child "identifies" as the other gender are even worse.
It is good to see that there is push back against the "transgender" ideology across the political spectrum. Maybe one day, treating the mental health issues will become a priority over mutilating the body.
No one IS trans. Delusions don’t count in the real world.

Actually I just read a tragic story about a little 10 yr old girl in Washington state whose parents had to flee with her to India (their native country) because her fourth grade teacher was trying to “transition” her secretly and this state was supporting it.
Here in Florida, De Santis prevents it, thank God.
What expertise does a ‘4th grade teacher’ have to be messing around with serious psychological issues in children?
By and large it’s women that enable this and others lgbt junk, the men that go along as milquetoast.
I’m talking about Doctors who will actually perform mutilating surgeries on healthy people and give kids hormone therapy. Stupid women couldn’t hurt their kids this way, without Doctors willing to help.
Are “straight cisgendered” doctors abetting this, performing surgeries, dispensing hormones, etc., or are the involved medical practitioners LGBQTPedo themselves?
I met a trans last weekend. Boy to girl. I was interviewing teenagers for a summer program. He seemed comfortable acting like a girl, or kind of neutral. But what really struck me was that this young person seemed autistic to me. Gender transition does not help that. I am mortified to think that when this young man attains his full height, which could be well over 6 feet since he’s part danish, and his shoulders, which are already very square, broaden out to their full extent, he is going to regret how much he has maimed and contorted his body. And the complications this presents in a summer program with overnight stay are really off-putting. I really like this kid. But I am furious at his parents and the school and medical system that has maimed him before he has had a chance to grow up.
I do not know how I will handle meeting the parents again. I will pray on it.
I don’t know, but given that the alphabet sexualities still represent a very small proportion of the population, I have to assume that a lot of ‘straight’ doctors are doing it.
The main motivation seems to be money (for doctors and hospitals) but over-intellectualized doctors probably actually believe in what they’re doing.
I imagine that doctors who are against it, just like those against abortion, are under a lot of pressure. (It’s been many decades now that young prospective medical school candidates who refused to agree with abortion have felt they were cut out of med school for their principles.)

Now that is a really, really good question. One that should be asked by a competent lawyer when the teacher is on the witness stand under oath during a civil trial for damages.
