Cornel West to Appear on Oregon Ballot Following Oregon Progressive Party Nomination

Independent candidate Dr. Cornel West will appear on the Oregon state ballot after receiving the presidential nomination of the Oregon Progressive Party, as announced in a recent press release issued by the campaign earlier this week.

“It’s a profound honor to be listed on Oregon’s ballot for 2024 as part of the Oregon Progressive Party slate of candidates,” West said in a press release put out by the campaign on Wednesday. “I am deeply thankful to my Oregonian family for embracing this vision. Oregon, you are not just on the map, you are at the forefront of the struggle for truth and justice.”

The Oregon Progressive Party, in their statement about nominating West, emphasized that he embodies the principles the organization stands for, including “healthcare as a human right, free public education, environmental justice, and a peaceful approach to foreign policy.”...

Oregon becomes the second state where the West campaign has qualified for ballot access, with West having previously received the nomination of the Aurora Party in Alaska late last year.

This will hurt Biden. But is it enough to tip Oregon to Trump?

Anyone know where to send campaign donations? Even a small amount of money to get his name out will get him a LOT of votes. The big money matter much more for tight races.

Vote by mail. If you can get it together to fill out the ballot and leave it for the mailman...postage-free...you’re good.

Yay Cornell! We need affirmation from an educated professor proudly voicing his theories proclaiming his wisdom as the resounding progressive voice to be heard across the land! In case anyone has any doubts whatsoever what this country is dealing with...

I would make a guess...if he appears around the state...especially at colleges, he’d probably get in the range of 40,000 votes. Not enough to change things. But then there’s RFK Jr out there as well.

“...is it enough to tip OR to Trump?”
PDX/Salem/EUG is WAY too braindead for any such occurrence.

Good estimate on your part. West won’t change any outcomes in this state.

The margins are too large at the moment, here are the percentage results from the last two Presidential elections.

2016 50.07% Clinton 39.09% Trump +10.98% democrat

2020 56.45% Biden 40.37% Trump +16.08% democrat

Being Republican on the West Coast is like being a Greek at Thermopylae, but instead of column after column of Persians its a never-ending wave of white progressives.

Oregon is an unusual voting pattern. Once you get out past Portland, Eugene and Salem....it goes to 55-to-60 percent Republican vote. This is what drives the bulk of the state to seek separation of the urbanized ‘enclaves’ that run the state.

Yeah, I know Oregon very very well, I was born in McMinnville in 1971 & the answer isn’t merging with Idaho.

Until financial capitalists redirect investments out of that arrogant polity in Multnomah County and toward future growth in the rural counties....stagnation and the current idiotic politics will continue.

It’ll take at least a decade to notice the changes that are being prepared by “financial shepherds.”

Liberal Oregonians like to pretend they like change and are at the vanguard of a new way, but most of them are clueless as to what they’re going to experience moving forward.

Oregon is a 100% vote by mail state. There is no such thing as a polling place in Oregon.

The state has been democrat-dominated since the change in voting.
