The feud between the Biden administration and the state of Texas over the southern border has set the stage for one of the biggest immigration fights between the federal government and a state government in more than a decade.
Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recently had his authorities seize city property along the southern border, arresting migrants crossing illegally for trespassing, which the federal government has vocally opposed. The Biden administration subsequently asked the Supreme Court to intervene, arguing that Texas is overstepping its authority, sparking a legal battle the high court hasn’t seen since 2012.
“Courts traditionally have said that states have only a limited role to play when it comes to enforcing our immigration laws. Texas is now challenging that traditional assumption and we’ll have to see how the courts rule on this important issue,” Stephen W. Yale-Loehr, professor of immigration law practice at Cornell, said in an interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation

Mainstream media is not reporting much on the issue which tells me they know that most people support Abbott's actions.
The real issue is not if Texas can be allowed to enforce immigration laws, it is if Biden can be allowed to NOT enforce immigration laws. Let’s hope that’s what the Supreme Court rules on.
Guess how many states are involved with Texas. Early last night I found out it’s 25..
I believe some of them are blue states too.
If I understood correctly, about half of them are.
Biden is involved with three wars, and now close to a civil war as well.
Biden’s handlers along with their kook allies in the media will try to spin this as if Biden is JFK and Abbott is Governor George Wallace type scenario in an attempt to stir up all the race crap again.
It is insane but perfectly inside their wheelhouse to attempt it.
No. They will invade Arizona and California instead.
Exactly.
Unfortunately, the Biden Admin has a history of thumbing it's nose at court decisions. They do what they want (or don't do what they don't want to do).
One of?
Last time we saw a state-fed fight like this we had a Civil War.
Thanks to my governor. At least there’s one politician in this country who cares about America, Americans and Texans.
Legally “The Big Guy” will win this. But in terms of PR Abbott will win.
California has taught us that Federal law can just be ignored
The federal government isn’t doing it’s job under bribeden. Maybe this is an opportunity for states to begin taking back power from the feds.
Until the republic is restored, there is no state vs fed.
There is only Deep State.
And this is just more Kabuki theater.
Yah,until The Big Guy sends in the National Guard to clear out the state and local guys.
The National Guard is composed of Texans
Federal preemption is irrelevant here because in this case the federal government is not attempting to exercise their constitutional authority to protect the U.S. against invasion or to enforce immigration law, they are deliberately aiding and abetting the BREAKING of our immigration laws while promoting the illegal invasion of our country. Texas has rightly determined that the feds have abdicated this authority, if not become literal enemies of the United States, and therefore is trying to do whatever it can to protect their state from an invasion. Any judge who could not clearly see this fact pattern should be tried right alongside the rest of the leftist traitors when, hopefully, CWII kicks off and the 21st Century version of the Nuremberg trials is held in its wake to bring every last leftist enemy to final justice.
But with a stroke of the pen they come to be directly subordinate to the commands of the Commander-In-Chief. Disobeying an order in a situation like that can land them in Leavenworth,Kansas.
President Retard and the Federal government should be indicted for dereliction of duty failure to protect citizens failure to secure the border failure to enforce immigration laws providing status to criminals and illegals failure to protect us from cartels the list us truly endless ….
too bad my governor is owned by the cartel
You assume they can be tried and convicted.
The state is not the lefty wimp infested Massachusetts, the state is Texas
and in numerous instance SCOTUS rulings can be ignored with impunity. Simply because the plaintiffs are out of money.
